Monomad: Downtown Calgary Covering Up The Old With The New
Calgary has a habit of always seeming to be building something new downtown; it's been that way in the 4 decades or so I've been watching, and I am sure it will continue for many into the future. I am also sure that most cities see these over the decades and centuries. Especially where there is money, they call Calgary a boom and bust town. I would say it often sees more boom, and on the top end of things, there is quite a bit of rela estate development on the go. On the bottom, the bust might seem like it never gets to the boom, and the inner city has its issues, like many do. One thing that is nice to see, though, is that we hold on to a little of the old, we dont need to paint over everything. maybe the old Coca-Cola add on the side of a brick building still has an appeal, and would anything really look better?
