Monomad: Calgary Zoo Big Horn Sheep

There are three different subspecies of bighorn sheep; this one is of the Rocky Mountain variety. The other two are the Sierra Nevada and Desert Bighorn types. These images are of a female; they typically have smaller horns, while the males have the larger ones with the big curl. They can be found in the western mountain ranges between southern Canada and Mexico, so they have quite a wide range that they call their habitat. They prefer a dry and rugged climate but will also migrate long distances to avoid areas where there is minimal snow.
