Mallard Duck on the Water

I see mallards at all times of year here in Calgary. They are a non-migratory bird and can somehow deal with the winter better than most birds here. They are omnivorous and have been described as being very flexible in their choice of food. From bread to fish to frogs to bugs, they will also eat all kinds of plant and seed matter. Essential anything edible, they will give it a go. I caught a blue hue in this image, and it suited the water and ripples perfectly as this mallard calmly floated along.
