Ant Carries a Fallen Ladybug

Following around ants with a macro lens is one of the tougher challenges I've tried when photographing insects. There have been a few successes doing this and many failures, as its really hard to maintain focus while also staying at the right distance to keep things sharp. I thought this ant carrying the spoils of victory was a really lucky thing for me to encounter. I followed the ant as it emerged from a crack, and it took almost a dozen shots before I was able to get something in focus. From there, I was able to string a few shots together as they crawled across this rocky surface. The moment you move to much can really throw everything off, so you have to use a steady grip, and I found manual focus might be better, as then you won't have to worry about autofocus trying to kick in and then you lose the shot.

I do not know what became of the ladybug; I would assume this ant brought home a feast for its brethren, and they sang for he's a jolly good fellow as they partied the night away. At least that's what I hope happened.
