Mostly I stay indoors, no need/scope to go out dedicated for a walk. Recently I have been noticing the extreme need for a habit of regular walking or any kind of exercise. In my daily routine, I go out to say my prayer to the mosque multiple times a day and with that, I had added ten minutes of walking as I had to go out so why not do that in a routine style? But today, I thought of having a dedicated walk to participate in the Wednesday Walk so all the credit of this walk goes to the initiative. Let's see what I have explored.

Expectations

I picked the evening time, just before the sunset. This is the most enjoyable time of the day for me in a day. Enjoying sunrise is not my cup of tea as I am a sleepyhead and during that time I am always fast asleep. So the sunset, the transition period of daylight to darkness, is the most enjoyable time to me, for unknown reasons. So I started walking through this walkway for a good viewpoint from where I could enjoy the sunset. As you can see, there goes a canal beside the walkway and the other side has boundaries where a few lights are blinking, giving me the sign that I must hurry otherwise I would miss the sunset.

Reality

Guess what, I missed the sunset. By this, I meant to say that I couldn’t reach my desired viewpoint from where I could have enjoyed an amazing view of the sunset moment. I got late, and by the time I reached there, it was already dark all around. No worries, my primary motive was to walk, and here I am, walking.

Well, why was I late? Hehehe, due to one of my habits. While walking, I came across one of my favorite places that used to be my commonplace for hanging out with friends. We used to be here on a daily basis, have tea, and chit-chat for hours. Today, I was alone, with no one beside me. See below, attaching two pictures of the activity there.

I ordered one raw tea, no milk or extra sugar. He will add some herbs in it and this has been my pick for almost a year. During nights this place stays heavily crowded. Groups of boys gather here for hangouts, just like us, in the old days. It has been months since the last time I came here. So this was almost ten to fifteen minutes before the sunset. Sitting here and sipping on the cup of tea, remembering the old days that are gone and hardly can be found. No matter how much we try to recreate, things won't be the same. Sitting here I am remembering my friend who left for Europe last week, for a settlement. Missing three who have left us months ago, also some who are within the country but live in another city for job purposes. One place with thousands of memories. Happy ones that I am dying to live again.

After some time, I started to walk again, in another direction. The viewpoint I had mentioned was the goal to reach before sunset. But as I have mentioned already, I had missed the sunset. But I sat there, that's another place of mine to have some relaxing time. To be honest, I don't have many places to explore or go, I just visit the usual ones that have always been our place. So I stayed there for some time, it was dark all around.

The Last Mile

Need to move again, got up and started walking for another destination. Towards some crowded places, where the city is alive at its fullest. Though I mostly try to avoid crowds, it does no harm to have a walk around them.

See the darkness, straight road, and everywhere else is just darkness. By the way, look at the graffiti, this is the walkway for thousands of kids every day. Many schools are there and so to give them some amazing scenery to look at, an initiative was taken to paint the walls with various arts. If it was daytime, I could have captured them all properly, but this is all I could notice after coming home that was captured when I shot. You see no crowd here? Actually, I have just crossed them and most importantly I am not the guy who can pull the phone and capture pictures among the crowds, I feel shy at such moments. I look around, but no one is there, ‘let's click some photos now’ type of person.

So after walking a little more, I came to a lake. This one has some groups as well, sitting patiently here and there and having chit-chats. This is one kind of colony and so the people that live here find it easy to walk around the lake for their walking sessions. I think one or two rounds of it should be enough as this one is pretty huge. Well, I don't have much energy left to give a round now, I just came to sit here for a moment and walk back home. While walking there, I saw some families walking with their children. Maybe they were out for the evening walk as well. Saw kids returning home after their playtime.

Stats

So this is a simple stat from my fitness band that I wore before going out. I walked for almost an hour but the whole time should have been more than two hours that I was outside. I sat at two or three places and spent some time. It was not only walking but some enjoying the moment kind of session for me. 3.73 kilometers that I have walked within that 54 minutes with 5.2k steps. I think I had set goals for 8 thousand steps previously. Maybe the next time when I go for a walk I will aim to hit that milestone instead of the short breaks I took.

So this is it for today. Thanks to the Wednesday Walk community for having such an initiative that focuses on actual activity that heals the body along with the mind. It was needed for me. I would love to participate more and more because this might be the gateway to forming the habit of walking on a regular basis. Feel free to join this initiative, maybe this is the reason for you to step out of the home.

Have a great day,
Take care of yourself.
