My trip to Paris with my husband

Day 1 in Paris: Visiting Holy Places and Culinary Dishes

Paris has always been a very interesting place for me, but I wanted to go there since my high school days, but often postponed the trip with my parents. Art, history - I wanted to see all this for a long time. When my husband and I finally went on this long-delayed trip, it seemed very unusual to me, after which I was inspired. Every place in the city was unusual. Our itinerary for the day was represented by places where we were going to see, architecture and taste local cuisine, and at the same time visit three of the most famous churches of Paris, and then finish the evening with a wonderful evening dinner in a restaurant.

Morning at Notre Dame Cathedral

We started our day early in the morning at Notre Dame Cathedral, this was the very place that I had seen before only in books and films. As we approached, huge Gothic towers were above us, their carvings were simply mesmerizing up close. Although restoration work after the fire in 2019 is still ongoing. When we entered the cathedral, I was amazed by the stained glass windows, where their colors were in different colors, and you could see how the morning light was coming through them. At that moment, I imagined how many people had stood there before me, and after that, I think they all shared a moment of surprise from what they saw.

When we spent time with my husband inside, we climbed the towers. From there, there was a view of beautiful Paris. Below us, the Seine River flowed through the city, and in the distance, you could see how the Eiffel Tower was. It was a panoramic view, very beautiful.

Day 2 Church of the Madeleine

Our next place was the Church of the Madeleine. It was very different from Notre Dame, but in its own way, it was just as beautiful. The neoclassical design with massive and large columns, which for me then resembled a Greek temple, created the feeling that you were entering an ancient monument, and not the church itself.

It was certainly calm inside, much quieter than Notre Dame. The art and sculptures were also quite impressive. We sat there for a while and compared the difference in atmosphere with the previous cathedral.

I read that La Madeleine was originally intended as a temple to the glory of Napoleon's army itself, which gave the church an even more exciting feel.

Day 3 Climbing to the Sacré Coeur

The very next day we went to Montmartre, where the Sacré Coeur Basilica is located. Then climbing the steps was like some kind of pilgrimage, as with each step I felt closer to heaven.
When we finally reached the top, the view was simply stunning. Paris looked amazing from this point, where you could see many white and gray roofs under a soft blue sky. There is certainly something wonderful about looking at the city from the Sacré Coeur.

The basilica itself was beautiful inside, with the mosaic of Christ himself shimmering above the altar. Unlike the other two churches we visited, Sacre Coeur seemed more inviting. I lit a candle here, for the impressions of the day and for the opportunity to see Paris as it is now.

Walking around the city of Paris

Having visited Sacre Coeur on a warm day today, my husband and I then decided to walk through the narrow streets of Montmartre. This area seemed to us as if we were stuck in time. Artists lined the square, their easels were set up, and we passed small cafes where most tourists drank coffee.

Then we slowly strolled around to admire the shops and galleries. One of the interesting moments was finding a bookshop located in a narrow alley. It was certainly a place that looked like it had not changed for many decades, with books stacked to the ceiling and the smell of old paper. It then reminded me why Paris seemed such a paradise for artists themselves, because the place itself inspired creativity.

A Perfect Evening

By the time evening came, my husband and I decided to relax, but we were also looking forward to what was next: dinner at a French restaurant we had booked in advance. The restaurant had that Parisian feel, with dim lights, soft music, and tables that were close together. As we sat down, the view out the window of the city seemed to create a bustle of people gathering for dinner. My husband and I then toasted the day with a glass of French wine.

We decided to start with an appetizer, escargot, which I was interested in trying. The buttery, garlicky sauce was nice, and I liked the flavor. For the main course, I chose a classic coq au vin, which was the perfect comfort food after a hard day of touring. My husband chose bouillabaisse, a seafood stew that was filling.
As we sat there, the city outside the window felt different at night — more vibrant in the center of Paris.

Returning to the hotel after dinner, we saw that the streets of Paris were still full of energy. The Eiffel Tower in the city itself was glowing in the distance.
That day in Paris was spent to the maximum. From the grandeur of its churches to the beautiful streets. There is something truly interesting about Paris, after all—the way it makes you touch its endless history.
