Carnival is slowly approaching, but it was already joyful in our neighbourhood. Last weekend, as part of the "European Capital of Culture" events, a carnival event called European Carnival 2025 took place. It was a truly unforgettable event that brought together tradition, culture and music in a great international celebration.

18 groups from Slovenia, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Germany took part in the parade in Gorizia, a town in eastern Italy right on the border with Slovenia. Each group brought its own artistic and cultural contribution, with elaborate costumes, spectacular choreography and musical performances reflecting the traditions of their countries.

The parade was also made special by the Guggenmusik performed by the groups. This is a special style of music that originated in Switzerland. It is characterised by deliberately rough arrangements based on well-known melodies but performed in the wrong musical scale. Really fun, likeable and above all unusual.

Organisers counted more than 550 participants in the parade through the streets of the city centre, entertaining and delighting carnival enthusiasts along the almost 2 km long route.
