RE: Seeing off Lord Ganesha

This kind of true socialism has a profounding impact on everyone joining the event

Indeed. There are three dimensions of our festivals and culture--

  • Spiritual(Inner journey, just imagine every year we do Ganesh puja, estabush the murti(physical shape) at home, and then give a send-off for "visarjan"(amurt)-- so it signifies a journey from "murt to amurt", means taking birth and again dissolving into the five elements of Nature. Put simply, it's story of life cycle...

  • Nature...every single festival is closely tied to Nature and at a particular season. Living close to nature is true sustainability, even our modern progress should commensurate "living close to the natural ecosystem".

  • Socialism- In some form or the other or through festivals, we develop connectedness as a social animal. So festivals are otherwise the mechanism to enforce socialism culturally.

Om Gan Ganapataye Namah.

As always, I marvel at your sharp shots. They are the USP of your blog on any given day.

Thank you.
