This cute creature was caught in the nets yesterday. The purpose of the safety net was to protect the vegetables from monkeys, but as you know birds can get entangled in the net, particularly in the evening time when the visibility is relatively low. This exactly was the case when I noticed this bird was entangled and also caused some injury to his legs.

This is basically an Indian hawk of medium size with dark brown color on the upper side.

Actually, my mom first spotted this bird and asked me to rescue this cute creature. I approached with caution as these birds have really sharp pointed nails on their foot and could potentially cause injury during the rescue process. I first tried to calm down the bird as he was totally nervous, I stayed there for some time so that he could recognize me as his friend.

I asked for a cloth to cover him properly so that he could not cause any harm during the rescue process and a scissor to cut the plastic threads of the net entangled in his legs. My mom provided both of them and asked me to be extra careful.

Then I brought this bird to my room and tried to relax him, he stayed with us for another 30 mins, we offered him water but he did not take it and then before releasing him, I took a few shots of this wonderful bird. It was totally an eventful evening yesterday. My garden is really home to a variety of birds, I love to see all of them, they are like our family members. The feathered friend beautifies our home and garden.

We are now planning to replace the plastic nets with something safe that should not otherwise cause grievous injury to birds in particular.

All the shots are taken with the help of a Smartphone.
