Tulleys Tulip Fest • A Celebration of Spring

Last time we showed you a part of the tulip festival and we tried to name some of the tulips that we saw there. It was an amazing experience and the thought still lingers in my mind. If you missed it feel free to check out A Countryside Sea of Colors.

Come join us again on the second part of the visit to the tulip farm. Here we will share with you the other fun things that you would see and experience on this farm. Catch the UK spring with us before it ends.

The tulip farm closed its season at the end of April and we were lucky that we were able to book just in time. Although the season has closed they have now opened signups for 2025 ticket release news. Something to look forward to if you are in the UK and have not visited the farm.

As you can see it was a beautiful day but there were a lot of visitors. There was also a tourist bus on the parking lot which shows how popular the farm is.

Picking of flowers is prohibited and there are also signs to refrain from touching the flowers. If you want one you could buy some from their shop but not all varieties are available.

To add to the charm of the farm they had musicians going around singing while playing their guitar. They were pretty good and played alternative rock music from the 90's which is my kind of music. I wish I asked if they could do requests.

73.jpg

The windmill is one of the most photographed spots on the farm it somehow gives you a feeling that you are in Holland surrounded by the tulips.

It was time to do a little photoshoot with my wife Mhel as she loved the farm very much. It is hard to get a good photo without the crowd but it is possible. You just need to find a good spot and a lot of timing.

Eventually, we got hungry and we had to get something to eat. They offer diverse Dutch street food from mini Dutch pancakes to Dutch hotdogs.

83.jpg

Here they offer hotdogs and chicken. The footlong hotdog will cost you £9.00 up to £11.00 if you want cheese sauce and bacon. Boneless chicken wings will cost you £8.00.

84.jpg

There are a lot of seating areas and here you could buy gelato and coffee. You could also bring in food from outside as I have seen a lot of visitors bringing out their food for lunch. If you are saving money it would be a great idea to bring food with you but you will miss out on the experience of Dutch street food.

85.jpg

They had a couple of wood-burning places near the food stalls. I thought at first that it was meant to provide heating for those in need of warmth as it was a bit chilly that day. To my surprise, they were meant to roast marshmallows for a price. I failed to check the prices as we had no plans of roasting, although it would be fun.

Time to take a seat and have our lunch. I ordered the smoked beef burger with the sauce of your choice. I chose their signature sauce and the total price was around £12.00 if I could clearly remember. A bit pricy but it was ok.

89.jpg

My wife ordered the cheesy sauce dog which cost £10.00. It was pretty good and she even gave me some as it was too big for her.

90.jpg

Now the chips that they sold were amazing. The serving was a lot and it was the crispiest chips that I ever had. I loved every bite of it and cost us I believe around £8 or £9 if I am correct. It was a winner and I don't know where in London I could find chips as crispy as these.

91.jpg

We cannot leave until we also do a photoshoot of our pets and yes this farm is pet-friendly. We put them on one of the carts on display and started taking photos. Due to their well-behaved cuteness a lot of people also started to take photos of them. Some also asked if they could take photos with our dogs. Later on, passers-by were stopping and waiting for their chance for a photo. I jokingly said that we should start charging £1.00 each.

It was time to go and before you could leave you would pass by their boutique. Putting the boutique at the exit is a great strategy to convince you to buy something before you leave.

96.jpg

They sold tulip-scented candles, tin cans, mugs, tumblers and clothing. These are great souvenirs and giveaways for your friends and family.

97.jpg

The teddy bears are nice and I wish we bought one as a remembrance of the tulip season.

98.jpg

They had a lot of items for sale and here is where you could buy tulip bulbs to take home with you.

I was curious about what was in the jar and found out that they also sold doggy treats. I doubt that they are tulip-flavoured as I think dogs wouldn't like them.
