Fascination • Roaming the Streets of London
Fascination • Roaming the Streets of London
It has been a few weeks now since we moved to the UK. There are so many new things that we are seeing for the first time. The streets of London is very fascinating and I am bewildered by it's beauty. The architecture, people, clothing, culture and way of life is amazing.
Let me just share with you today some photos on our first visit to central London during the last week of December. I know it is a bit late for the holiday post but I hope you would enjoy the photos thru the eyes of a foreigner in a new land.
It was starting to get dark around 4PM. It is quite different how the sun goes down here in the UK. In the Philippines the sun goes down around 6:00 PM and this change of time zone is unusual for us.
The streets of London are being filled with more people as the sun goes down. We see very interesting things, like this bicycle taxi uniquely decorated to tour you around the area. We have something similar from our country but the passenger seat is on the side.
This is a popular spot with angels hovering above the streets. Glowing with white Christmas lights it attracts tourists from all over. There were a lot of tourists taking photos and selfies in this intersection. I am just not sure if this type of decoration is the same every year.
I was told that this building is very popular as it was showcased in the Disney movie "Cruela". I believe this is a mall and I hope we could visit soon and explore this popular building.
Another location famous for its Christmas lights decorations is Carnaby Street. The street has brightly lit decorations along the way. Each year has different themes and this year features a giant snowman, lyrics from Bohemian Rhapsody and a lot more. I was too distracted by the beautiful lights and forgot to take more photos as we passed along. I am curious about what will be the theme next year.
After Carnaby Steet, we explored further down the streets of London. People were happy and smiling in this season despite the cold weather. We were freezing and were thinking how the people didn't seem much bothered about the cold. Maybe soon we will adapt to the cold weather. The weather was cold but we were enjoying ourselves in the new environment.
In this location, there were a lot of musical and stage play theatres. It seems people here enjoy a lot of these kinds of entertainment. We have not been to a show and very much looking forward to seeing one.
Another thing that interests me the most is the structures around London. The buildings are old but very much maintained which makes them very special. I preserve the identity and culture of one's country. In our country, a lot of old buildings and houses have been demolished and replaced with new buildings. Sadly, it is like losing a part of our identity.
There is also a China town in London. The place is beautiful and would try to explore more of it in the future. Maybe even try to eat in one of the restaurants here as I am craving for Chinese food.
Thanks for joining us on our walk and I hope you enjoyed it. Will be exploring more of London and I hope you join us again.
Cheers!

Your walk definitely is full of fun and adventure. I like it.
Thank you for the virtual tour, it seemed that I was walking with you too as I read your blog. The place is captivating
I am glad you enjoyed the short tour. We have so much to share soon. A very beautiful place indeed.
Great pictures. It really sounds like you're having a great time!
Thank you my friend. We are really enjoying ourselves in this new country.
The lights on Carnaby Street are lovely! What a fun place! 😃
The only downside is the crowd, especially in that last shot... 😬
Yes too many people there. We had to keep moving and can't get a lot of shots.
great photo's and London looks really festive. Like you and Ryan... we are recently relocated to a new country.... but unfortunately we do not speak the language. Makes it a bit tough and isolated. Nonetheless we are pretty happy ...
It is always raining here which is very unusual for us. But we love the new environment. That is a challenge moving to a country with a different language but I'm sure you will manage soon. I love Italy and hope we can visit some day.
I've been to London a few times and am enjoying seeing it through your eyes! There is so much to see and do, and so much History. I predict that you are going to love your time there.
We are like a child in a new world and we are enjoying each new thing that we see.
