Cornwall Adventure • Pensagillas Park Campsite UK

More than 5 hours away from London we headed out to the beautiful and peaceful countryside of Cornwall. Known for its stunning coastlines and majestic open fields, it is a perfect place for a vacation.

1.jpg

The roads getting here were very narrow and most of the time only one vehicle would fit. It was a very long drive but we finally arrived at our campsite. Our home for the next 5 days as we explore Cornwall.

2.jpg

Welcome to Pensagillas Park a camping site located in Truro Cornwall.
For fishing enthusiasts they also have a fishing spot here.

Prices:

  • Grass pitch with electric hook up - £30.00 per night (during high season)

Extra cost per night:

  • Car - £3
  • Adult (18+) - £5
  • Child - £5
  • Tent - £5
  • Dog - £3

3.jpg

We headed to the reception to check in and we were directed to our camping spot. Beside the reception area the toilets and shower rooms are also located. There is a vending machine here and you can buy ice here as well.

4.jpg

5.jpg

The campsite is divided into 5 areas.
Lake View Meadow
Orchard Meadow
Pond Meadow
Outer Meadow
Pond View Terrace

Our camp spot is at the Pond View Terrace at the very end which is nice a quiet.

6.jpg

This is the Orchard Meadow near the reception area and the entrance. There are caravan trailers here that you could rent if sleeping in a tent is not for you.

7.jpg

Next is the Pond Meadow a wide open space with caravan trailers and a tent pitching area. You have an option to have electricity in your tent but you need to bring your own extension cable lead.

8.jpg

9.jpg

10.jpg

The Outer Meadow is the largest part of the campsite and the Pond View Terrace is located at the very end. It has an amazing view of the countryside and farmlands.

11.jpg

You will also spot some cows grazing from the distance.

Here we are at our campsite and you can park your car just beside your tent. It is advisable to have a ground sheet before pitching your tent as the ground tends to get moist.

12.jpg

13.jpg

The area is very spacious and just limited to a number of tents which is good to avoid overcrowding. The distance from each camping spot has just enough space for privacy.

14.jpg

Near our campsite is a wash area where you can clean your pots and pans after cooking. There is also one shower room and toilet here.

15.jpg

16.jpg

This is the pond in front of our tent there are some small fish here but fishing is not allowed in this area. It is relaxing just to sit near the pond during the afternoons.

17.jpg

18.jpg

19.jpg

20.jpg

The view around the area is gorgeous and waking up to this scenery is an amazing experience.

21.jpg

22.jpg

23.jpg

If you have a dog with you they will surely love this area. You can let your pets run loose and enjoy nature. Once you leave the area you are required to put your dog on a lead.

24.jpg

25.jpg

26.jpg

27.jpg

28.jpg

This location has a lot of interesting things to see. An area for wildflowers but there are not many flowers during this season.

29.jpg

30.jpg

31.jpg

32.jpg

33.jpg

Wild blackberries can be found all over the UK, you can find them here growing everywhere. I can simply pick some for a snack but just pick the ones from the upper bush as advised.

34.jpg

A pond with an advise that dogs are not allowed to swim. Some dogs love water and may just simply jump in.

35.jpg

36.jpg

37.jpg

38.jpg

At the back part, there is a small brook that runs through the ponds. Tiny fishes can be spotted if you look closely.

39.jpg

40.jpg

41.jpg

This tree has a sign Hedgehog House but I do not know if they live in the small boxes or underneath the tree. I wanted to see one but I think they are nocturnal creatures. I wouldn't want to go out here at night.

42.jpg

They made a house for owls but again they are nocturnal creatures and there would be no chance to spot them.

43.jpg

44.jpg

This area leads to the bar and serves local food and pizza. Would be a great place to hang out during the evening to enjoy some drinks and local ale.

45.jpg

46.jpg

There are more toilets and shower rooms here. In case you don't have enough clothes there is a laundry area.

47.jpg

The bar opens at 6 PM for takeaway and eat-in. We didn't try the bar and I wish we tried it once. There are a lot of people here when it gets dark.

48.jpg

49.jpg

Just across the other side is the Lake View Meadow campsite. This is where the fishing spot is located. Along the way, there are a lot more wild blackberries on the side of the road.

50.jpg

51.jpg

Here we are at Lake View Meadow and this area is a really nice place for camping. You have a great view of the fields and the lake below. I think I would like to set up camp here next time we visit.

I went to the right side to go down to the lake, there is a trail going around the lake. I didn't go further as I was a bit tired already but I'm sure it's a good place to go for a walk.

57.jpg

This dried-up tree really caught my attention as it was on a small mound in the middle of the lake. A tree that has a lot of stories to tell

58.jpg

59.jpg

If you want to go fishing there are a lot of regulations.

  • You need to acquire a fishing license provided at the reception for a cost.
  • Unhooking mats, specific baits, and hooks are required.
  • All fish caught are to be returned to the lake.
  • No night fishing and no drinking near the lake.

The fish caught here are Carp, Golden Rudd, Roach, and Tench.

If you love fishing you may want to check this out.

60.jpg

As for me, I love fishing but here I would capture beautiful scenery instead.

61.jpg

62.jpg

63.jpg

Back at our campsite, we prepared for dinner. We were provided with a firepit as cooking is not allowed on the grass. Fire wood is available for sale at the reception if you would like to have a bonfire at night to keep warm.

64.jpg

65.jpg

We bought our meat and supplies from a Tesco superstore which is a 15-minute drive from camp. It is not far so you can keep going back for more if your supplies are low. Although the drive going out is not easy as I mentioned the roads here are very narrow.

66.jpg

67.jpg

The evening embraced us and it was very dark. The lights from our tents were just enough to see inside but outside it was pitch black.

I spent some time outside late at night and tried to capture the beauty surrounding us. I would have taken some more but it was too cold and all the tent lights went out. Telling me to get some rest as tomorrow will be a new day for adventure.

Hello, I love camping ☺️ I've been camping since I was 6 years old. The best vacation is always going for a walk in nature and camping. I would definitely love to go camping there, this place is beautiful ❤️ That food looks really good ☺️ Thanks for sharing ☺️

How awesome! I haven't been outdoor tent-camping in years, and I really do miss it. I should go sometime, just to go, even if it's just me. What a beautiful place you found! And I bet that chicken was good.

You should just go out and do it. A couple of days may not be enough. A week would be great. The chicken was gone within minutes 😆
