This beautiful holiday has been celebrated in our lands since 1903. The residents of the city of Kazanlak started the tradition. Then they dedicated it to beauty, flowers and charity. In the 1930s of the 20th century, special trains were organized that transported those wishing to visit the festival at a discount.

THE ROSE VALLEY became an increasingly famous destination for Bulgarians.

In 1967, the first national rose festival was organized in the city of Kazanlak.

In 2005, the city of Bavel Banya organized the first performance - "QUEEN ROSE". The photos you see in this story I took two years ago at the then election for queen in a small village near the town of Karlovo.

An interesting fact is that every year about 500 Japanese tourists come to Bulgaria for the rose festival. The city of Kazanlak / where the holiday is usually celebrated these days / is very close to the Japanese city of Fukuyama. A symbol of the friendship between these two distant cities is a statue known as "THE JAPANESE WOMAN". Since 2014, a holiday has been announced in Japan - DAY OF THE ROSE / June 02 /.

I was very surprised when I found out this information! Indeed, our government should promote and present this unique holiday to the world!

WHAT IS THE COMPETITION - SPECTACLE "QUEEN ROSE" IN OUR DAYS?

The most beautiful high school seniors from the city of Kazanlak are chosen, who parade in front of the gathered public. This event is the most awaited for the population of the city of Kazanlak. It was held for the first time in 1963. Over the years, the pageant has attracted many international journalists because of the unique and beautiful story it presents.

Since 2013, the festival has been patented by the Kazanlak municipality. The holiday is also celebrated in the cities of Karlovo and Gurkovo.
