Strawberry Fields Forever - 22nd District, Vienna

Hello dear Hivers!
I am sharing my experience picking strawberries in my district. After attending a festival in the area, I was about to catch my bus when I saw this strawberry field full of people picking strawberries with their family. I didn't realize that the berries were ready to be picked. So I went to find out the rules of picking. A person has to pay 10 Euros to enter the field, the kids pay half... the entrance fee includes 2 kilos of strawberries and if you exceed, the kilos are paid extra.

The strawberries were in abundance, you only have to search for them because most are hidden under the plant covered with straw.

I observed that the kids were all so joyful in picking and eating while they fill the berries in their baskets. Of course it was fun of them because they also get to eat while harvesting. The essence of this undertaking is that the whole family gets to enjoy the fun. They all have happy faces and so excited at the berried they have
gathered.

As there were so many wild chamomile flowers along the border, I picked a bunch to bring home. They were wild and free for picking, so why not.

Then, I proceeded to the cash counter to have my haul weighed. I exceeded it by about 400 grams so I had to pay 2 Euros more. Had I decided to get the basket they offer, I would have paid 2 Euros more, but I had my paper bag, so I saved the fee.

I knew that it is expensive to pick in the field since to think of it, I could buy 2 kilo strawberries in the supermarket for a little less than 10 Euros. But it is the fun of the picking that it is worthwhile doing. Besides, I ate a lot during the picking because I was hungry and I ran out of water, oh boy it was very humid ...I decided to eat more to quench my thirst. I think I ate about a kilo.. ( lol!)

The berry picking has been a form of therapy for me physically and mentally, since my mind is busy socializing and indulging myself in the fun. It felt great to be in this field and seeing happy people´s faces. I am sure, I´d go back and join the fun again, that is if there are berries still to be picked!

I am sharing this for the #wednesdaywalk Community of @tattoodjay in collaboration with @elizacheng´s Make Me Smile initiative. The strawberry picking made me smile a lot despite the humidity on that day.'
That is all for today, I am wishing you a great day and have fun in all your undertakings!
xoxo,
Mers

How fresh and shiny they are! Strawberry picking is healthy and therapy too.
Indeed, it is a good therapy. The berries here are sweet and organically cultivated. Thanks!
