Showing Up At The Event In My Own Style... [WE 158]

First off, I rarely go for large occasions so I'm not sure I'll picture it well enough to know how large it could be and how I should appear in my own dress code since I didn't get to know the one chosen for the occasion. But one thing is sure, I wouldn't want to catch too much attention if I should be at such a large event.

I dislike being noticed too easily or too quickly in a place I may not know people or have no friends there especially because of what I'm putting on so I'm always self conscious when I dress up. I prefer modesty anytime, anywhere so for an event I don't know the dress code, I'll choose to go underdressed.

Why would one appear underdressed if you think in your mind that you are in your best wear?

No dress to kill, no dress to oppress anyone possible but just a dress to stay comfortable just in case it gets weird at the event. I've once made the mistake of matching up with how others have planned to show up at a party, they couldn't stop talking about killing it at the party with their dressing.

They were close friends so I had to meet up with them, or so I thought. I bought new wears, a kinda wear that I knew deep down would be super uncomfortable for me to use at a party but trust friends who could even go naked if they can to advice me into buying the wear.

Long story cut short, I didn't wear what I bought and I showed up at the party with them in one of my simple gowns... I'd like to add here that I love gowns a lot and they are my go-to if I can't browse through my wardrobe for a wear quickly. Even deciding a gown to wear can be difficult too but crossing out my blouses, skirts and trousers, I'm left with a little mountain to climb.

If dressing simple would appear underdressed, yeah I'd like to show up at the event looking like that. I'll get to have my peace at a corner and be comfortable through out the time of the event.

Although, what could change that is knowing the person or people who invited me and the kind of people they would have at their party. I do have a friend who I'd want to appear a little overdressed if she invites me to an event because I do know that she's a friend to all who dresses for a living 😂 I mean, they order for wears literally everyday to update their wardrobe.

So the person or group of people handing out the event invite to me can also play a part in my decision to go underdressed or overdressed but in cases when I'm not sure, I'll choose to go simple, as simple as I can so I can stay sane even when the event gets weird.
