Such a Nice Canal

Thinking back to 2013, the first of two trips I made to Amsterdam. It was so peaceful walking along the canals, admiring the old houses that have stood there for centuries, houseboats parked along as well. It felt genuinely like a happy place.

Wow thanks @edicted for the vote! I have thousands of photos from my travels around the world, I'm sure there's lots you'll like seeing!

Anyone who has been to Amsterdam has been fascinated by it. All my friends who have been there speak highly of it, but I've never been there

Amsterdam, at least back in 2013 and 2014, was a paradise compared to everything I had ever experienced in my life. And not just because of its liberal cannabis laws, it was genuinely a happier place with happier people than anywhere I had ever seen. It was also full of perfectly-preserved centuries-old houses (the Jordan neighborhood) as well as perfectly-maintained public parks and clean streets, nothing like Paris 😆

I work in an Italian company which is part of a Dutch multinational and I can confirm that the life of my Dutch colleagues has a good quality

The Dutch have traditionally had one of the highest standards of living and quality of life in all of the world - and I've seen how nice the actual city is, compared to anywhere in the US - you can't even look at them the same. Also, there's no real mass public transit in most of the US. Europe wouldn't function without mass public transportation
