Pigeon Point Lighthouse [EN/PT-BR]

I'm back with another drone post from my last trip to Santa Cruz. This is the Pigeon Point Lighthouse. This lighthouse is located in between San Francisco and Santa Cruz on State Route 1, also known as Pacific Coast Highway or just PCH, probably the most scenic route in the US.

This lighthouse was built in 1871 and is one of the tallest lighthouses in the west coast with 115ft(35m). The lighthouse is still in operation today by the coast guard, helping guide ships. It is also listed as a Historical State Park. At the bottom there is a museum that tells the stories about the lighthouse and the evolution in technology of the lanterns, you can still see the original one there and the also one that is the same as the one in operation right now. The lighthouse itself is closed for visitors as it is in renovation. There is also the keepers house and a hostel right next to the lighthouse. How cool would it be to spend a night at the lighthouse??

The day I got there, the marine fog was just clearing up. I walked around the area checking out the museum before flying, as I was waiting (and hoping) the fog would clear up. There was a lot of people visiting the lighthouse, so I drove off a little bit on a small road to find a good take off spot.

Estou de volta com outro post de drone da minha última viagem a Santa Cruz. Este é o Farol de Pigeon Point. Esse farol está localizado entre São Francisco e Santa Cruz na State Route 1, também conhecida como Pacific Coast Highway ou apenas PCH, provavelmente a rota com os visuais mais bonitos dos EUA.

Esse farol foi construído em 1871 e é um dos faróis mais altos da costa oeste, com 115 pés (35 m). O farol ainda está em operação até hoje e é operado pela guarda costeira americana, ajudando a orientar os navios que passam pela região. Ele também está listado como um Parque Estadual Histórico. Na área em volta do farol, há um museu que conta as histórias sobre o farol e a evolução da tecnologia das lanternas. Você ainda pode ver a lanterna original e a que está em operação atualmente. O farol em si está fechado para visitação, pois está em reforma. Tem também a casa que abriga os funcionários do farol e tem também um albergue(hostel) bem ao lado do farol. Não seria muito legal passar uma noite no farol? Ja imaginou?

No dia em que estive lá, a neblina do mar estava se dissipando. Dei uma caminhada pela área, e também uma olhada no museu antes de voar meu drone, pois estava esperando (e torcendo) para que a neblina se dissipasse. Havia muitas pessoas visitando o farol, então dirigi um pouco por uma estrada pequena para encontrar um bom local de decolagem.
