Snow in Silence, Fire in His Eyes

Hello dear friends in the Black & White Community, it’s Menati back again with a new blog and a new photo session!

These photos were taken on a cold winter day, when the sun barely showed up between heavy clouds and visible breaths. Outdoor photography in snowy weather always comes with challenges—frozen fingers, unstable natural light, and quick exposure changes.

The model in this session, with curly hair, half-smiles, and deep gazes, brought a calm warmth that contrasted beautifully with the icy landscape. My goal was to capture that contrast—the stillness of snow and the warmth in his eyes. I used entirely natural lighting; the sunlight coming from the opposite side created soft highlights on his face, helping separate him from the bright background.

The location was a high-altitude mountain area. The path was steep and carrying gear was tough. His outfit matched the environment, giving off a nature-loving, trekking vibe. I intentionally composed some frames with branches or mountain lines in the background to give more depth and perspective.

The biggest challenge was the cold—my fingers barely moved enough to press the shutter, but thanks to the model’s patience and our focus, we managed to capture a series that speaks of authenticity and quiet introspection.

The model’s outfit was perfectly in harmony with the location: a dark hoodie paired with a light-colored jacket. The contrast in colors helped separate the subject from the background and kept the full focus on his face and expressions. Especially in the photo where he looks directly into the camera, you can see both curiosity and honesty at the same time.

Every photo tells a story. A story of someone standing quietly in snow, looking into the distance, full of unspoken thoughts. That raw “in-the-moment” feeling was exactly what I wanted.

Thanks for being with me and caring about these silent moments. You’re the warmth in my winter!

Without a doubt, the most striking thing about these photographs for me was the model's hair, which gives him a lot of style, as well as his rather dominant attitude in front of the camera. Excellent work!
