Hi everyone in the black and white community!
I hope everything is going well there. I wanted to share a new photo shoot and blog post with you, this time with a talented model named Haghighat.
The photo shoot took place in my studio with a variety of different sets. We experimented with different lighting setups and captured some great shots, especially after converting them to black and white.
In this photo, the model is sitting on a three-seater sofa, facing the camera with his back to a window. The light from the window illuminates the scene. The model is reading a book and holding a cup of tea. He looks at the camera just as I take the picture.
In this photo, I zoomed in on the model and used a cup as an element. The model holds the cup in one hand and a glass of tea in the other. It turned out to be a pretty interesting shot.
We continued the photo shoot next to the columns in the studio. I took a full-body shot and a half-body shot of the model. The model is wearing sunglasses in these shots. In the full-body shot, I centered the model in the frame. In the next pose, which was a closer shot, the model is leaning against one of the columns and looking at the camera.
Lighting in Black and White Portrait Photography
Lighting is one of the most important elements in black and white portrait photography. It can be used to create contrast, depth, and mood in a photograph. In this portrait photography session, various lighting techniques were used:
Natural light:
In the first photo, natural light from the window illuminates the scene. This soft light creates subtle shadows that enhance the beauty of the image.
Artificial light:
In the following photos, artificial light is used to illuminate the subject and create more contrast.
In the second photo, a reflector is used to bounce light back into the shadows on the model's face. This helps to bring out the details of the model's face.
In the photos next to the column, two artificial light sources are used. A main light source to illuminate the subject and a secondary light source to create soft shadows.
