Classic Groom Portraits in Black & White - monomad
Hello to my friends in the Black and White community,
This is Menti, and in this post, I’m sharing a classic indoor male portrait session with a formal theme and minimal styling.
The model for this session was a groom with a sharp, serious look, styled in a black suit, wristwatch, and glasses, creating a dependable and confident appearance. The shoot took place in two setups: beside a window and in front of a vintage mirror with an ornate frame.
In the first set of images, natural window light was carefully controlled to highlight one side of the model’s face. The velvet curtain and frame details added structure and elegance. His posture, adjusting his watch or gazing outside, emphasized strength and subtle introspection.
In the next image, taken while the model was seated in a classic armchair, the camera angle was slightly lowered to give him a more dominant and composed presence. Lighting continued from the window side, while shadows were softened to maintain visual balance.
In the second part of the shoot, we moved to a large decorative mirror. The camera was positioned to center his reflection, while keeping the carved frame fully visible. Poses included tightening his tie, buttoning the jacket, and maintaining strong eye contact with his own reflection, each reinforcing a clean, formal narrative.
For lighting, I used a soft directional source to reduce mirror glare and preserve details in both the subject and background. The contrast and tones were kept rich but natural, suitable for a groom’s profile series or formal portfolio.
Thank you for staying with me until the end of this post,
If you’re seeking a balance between classic mood and professional styling in men’s portraits, this approach is a reliable option,
Until next time, farewell.
