A Groom’s Last Moments Alone - monomad daily chalenge
Hello to all my friends in the Black and White Community,
This is Menti, back again with another blog and another photoshoot!
This time, the story begins at a barbershop — but not just any visit. The mirrors lit up the room, the scent of hair spray in the air, the hum of the blow dryer, and the quiet, smiling conversations in the background… all created a soft, familiar atmosphere. But on this day, something was different. The energy shifted the moment he walked in: the groom.
He had just finished his grooming session. His hair was set, his beard trimmed, the final touch on his collar was done. And in the middle of it all, just a few minutes before leaving to meet his bride, I picked up my camera. No elaborate setups. No planned poses. Just a few sincere moments — full of unspoken emotion.
In the first photo, he’s standing by the door. A simple bouquet of white tulips in his hand. It wasn’t just a decorative piece — it felt more like a message. A quiet offering. A bridge from this present moment to the beginning of something sacred. His gaze isn’t just out the window — it’s miles ahead. Maybe he’s imagining that first look. That smile. That spark when two people silently say, “This is it.”
In the next photo, he’s sitting down again, framed by the soft lights around the mirror. The bouquet still in his hands. But this time, he’s quieter. Still. The kind of stillness that happens right before something big. Maybe his thoughts are loud, maybe his heart is racing — but his body is composed. Grounded.
A close-up follows. One of my favorite frames. His face is calm but deep, his eyes thoughtful — not afraid, not overly excited — just present. You can tell he’s having a conversation with himself. A quiet reminder to stay grounded. A prayer with no words.
Then, the mirror shot. One of those moments when photography becomes storytelling. He’s not just adjusting his appearance — he’s facing himself. And the mirror doesn’t just reflect his look. It reflects his journey. Everything that led to this day. Everything that’s about to begin. It’s a rare kind of stillness, and I felt lucky to be there to witness it.
And in the final frames, with his head bowed slightly and fingers working calmly on his cuff, the whole world seems to go silent. It’s such a simple motion. But for him, it might be the last deep breath before walking into something beautiful. The last second before becoming a husband. Before taking her hand.
For me, this wasn’t just about documenting a few quiet minutes in a barbershop. It was about telling the story of a man standing on the edge of a new chapter. A man who’s ready — not just dressed — to begin.
I’m always grateful to capture these quiet pockets of time — they may not be loud, but they say so much.
Thanks so much for joining me until the end of this blog. Your support, your eyes, your energy — they keep me going.
With light, with soul, and always with heart…
