These photos were taken by my son and daughter-in-law while they were on holiday in Northwest Mexico.

When they arrived, Jeff was disappointed to learn that the humpback whale migration was over and there were no more scheduled whale watching tours.
He had been looking forward to the possibility of seeing a whale so much.

Instead, they booked a private tour to go out to Marietas Islands to see the birds

And then!

A bucket list first!

It's a sight I have never seen and I could feel their excitement as they were sending me these photos!

He was delighted that they got to experience the thrill of seeing these giant creatures swimming so close to the boat!

A whale footprint!

Have you ever experienced seeing whales swimming freely in the ocean?

That had to be thrilling to see the whale so close up. I have seen dolphins, fish, sea-loins, seals and stingray but never a whale. So cool

Same with me! I even got to swim in water next to manatees, but I've never seen a whale. They were sending me photos from the boat while it was happening, so I felt included in the excitement!

Beautiful photographs. I have captured photographs in the river on a boat but never had the benefit of photography in the sea. Every photograph of you is really beautiful.

Have you ever experienced seeing whales swimming freely in the ocean?

No. I have not saw that so far. But I have seen the ocean from the distance in San Isidro for the first time in my life on the afternoon of 2023.04.21, when I arrived on Tenerife. Also for the first time. I still have not visited the ocean so far.

Today (on 2023.04.29) morning I also saw the ocean from the distance in the rocky semi-desert, near San Isidro.

Have a nice day and have a nice weekend.
All the best. Greetings and much love from Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain.

Oh yes, the Humpback whales come here between June and August and the Southern Right Whales arrive in large numbers to breed and our winter months. I have heard about the Bryde's Whale but haven't seen one yet. So great to watch the whales and their calves. We also have a pair of killer Orcas that come to hunt sharks every year.
I posted about them a few years ago and maybe when they arrive, I should go and take photos again in the coastal town of Hermanus.

Good luck to you guys with the new community.

Hi Mick, I posted them on Hive, but I really cannot remember when, as we have not been to Hermanus for a while. The winter months are here now and I will go again in June.
The Right back whales come down from Arctic region to calf here, as we have the Atlantic coast on our coasts.

Nice to talk to you again milady and yes, I have been doing these "essay" posts for almost 6 years now on Hive. Mine is just a wee bit longer in words and pictures than your rules.
But I will certainly support by placing some posts in here.

Two for the price of one !

I have never seen it before, however, I tried too. I gave my hubby a whale watching trip for his birthday one year. It was a bus trip from a top rated holiday tour company. We took a bus to the Virginia coast, about a 5 or 6 hour ride, got on a boat, during winter, went out in the ocean for a long cold ride and never saw a hint of a whale. It was amazingly disappointing .... and cold. Total bust ! I didn't try again.

That would be pretty awesome though. Glad it worked out for them.

I think a big part of the joy for them came from how unexpected it was. They had reconciled to the fact that they would not be seeing whales and suddenly there they were!

I did an email search to see when you had sent me the tree painting. I was thinking it was a couple of years ago and found that it was 2019! I sent you an email while I was there.

I think it is wonderful that they got to see what they most wanted to see. Appears it could not have worked out better.

Time flies.... doesn't it ? It is going WAY to fast for me !

Thanks for the heads up on the email. I didn't get a notice. I have responded.

When the whales lay their tails down on the water surface they leave these clear circles in the water and they call them "mirrors" because they are clear circles and look like mirrors.
