A visit to the Illinois prairie
These photos were taken on a road trip across the prairie land of central Illinois at the first part of November, on the way to visit a friend.
The haze is coming from distant harvest operations that are taking place as huge farm machinery picks the seasons crops.
She lives in an old farm house that keeps her busy making repairs, but she has great neighbors that frequently offer help.
She lives a rural life and survives alone by living off her small acerage She sells eggs and the produce she raises in her garden and orchard at local farmers markets. Her baked goods are especially popular and the honey cakes she offers for sale sell out every week.

Not surprised that you were reminded of Iowa... this is just across the Mississippi River. Although it takes a couple hours to get to the bridge to cross over to Burlington Iowa! She stays pretty close to home and enjoys her rural lifestyle.

This farm picture looks so refreshing. I think once a while such visits should compulsorily made to relax our mind and health from this stress life. Definitely your friend should find it peaceful.

It is a great way to live! It's fun to visit the city life, but I always am happiest at my home in the woods!
