A Venezuelan restaurant in Chicago and random photos

A smokey sunrise over Lake Michigan is causing the sun to be a brilliant red. We are advised to stay indoors and not breathe the "very unhealthy" to "hazardous" air that is filled with smoke from northern forest fires Today is worse that yesterday when this photo was taken. The air smells like campfire smoke and you can see the smokey haze.

If your air is clear, enjoy it!

You never know what you might find when you go for a walk!

This colorful flag lined patio belongs to El Rincón de Fabio, a local Venezuelan restaurant located at on. Argyle Street in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood.
They feature authentic Venezuelan street food. Looking up their menu I found th

Arepas: Hand-made stuffed corn meal cakes, like the classic shredded beef and black bean Pabellón.
Tequeños: Deliciously gooey, crispy Venezuelan cheese sticks.
Patacones: Sandwiches made with crispy, flattened green plantains instead of bread.

Adding this restaurant to the list of places to go back to!

A few more random Wednesday walk photos, including this lovely bumble bee!

Maybe the weather was smoky, but I couldn't take my eyes off your pictures. The sunrise scene and the bee image in particular are simply amazing. Anyway, I hope you are careful and well.

As always, my dear @melinda010100, I am fascinated by the images you share with their respective stories, but the one that caused me grace and surprise was Fabio's Corner and the menu with dishes from my country, Venezuela.
Thank you for such a nice post.

I was hoping my Venezuelan friends would see this! I'm told it is a very popular restaurant. It was too early in the morning to eat there but I certainly would love to return when they are open!

Love that bumble bee shot and the Venezuelan restaurant. I really miss the diversity of restaurants in California since moving away. Good food here but bigger cities have so many different options and tastes. I just posted a picture of smokey view of my little lake 😉

We have been in a cloud of smoke all day. It's like sitting next to a campfire when the wind blows the smoke in your face and the 92°temp is not helping!

Great photos; the bee capture looks good.

The Venezuelan restaurant reminded me of the Venezuelan Diaspora, thanks to which you can find Venezuelans almost anywhere in the world; at least that's what I've been told.

Of the food you mentioned, I think one of my favorites is tequeños, which in #Venezuela are practically mandatory appetizers for family parties and gatherings. The rest of the menu is also good, but I just wanted to share my personal taste. 😀

I love tequeños

I hope the weather improves. I think a relative who lives in Toronto told me there were some very strong fires in Canada, and that was affecting several places in the United States as well, like Michigan, Minnesota, Illinois, Ohio, and New York.

Thanks for letting me know your favorite!

We had hazardous air quality warnings all day today in Wisconsin. They were telling us not to go Outdoors. We did get a bit of a rain shower this evening that cleared the air temporarily but I know the smoke will be back very soon. It is awful.

It's true that the rain helps clear things up a bit, but it's almost certain that if the fires aren't put out soon, the smoke will return in the coming days.

I'm certain you are right. The rain showers have passed through and it's already smelling smokey again. My son took the day off work tomorrow so that he doesn't have to out in it

Your photos are beautiful, and I love seeing that colorful restaurant—it offers a chance to share our Venezuelan food. Thanks for sharing it; it fills me with national pride. Be careful with the air quality at this time of year.
Hugs!
