Reflective Practice: Leaving The World In A Better Place

Reflective Practice: Leaving The World In A Better Place
Over the next few weeks I am putting together a bit of a record on the Hive Blockchain on Reflective Practices. I am a person that truly believes we should leave this world in a better place than what we found it and my first instalment will focus on a few things that I have been involved in over the years:
Counter Terrorism
After the events of September 11 Aviation was never the same. One of the roles I was involved in and met so many great people, many I still hold friendships with today was in this space.
Airports are one of the most interesting workplaces I have ever been on and the amount of planning and work that goes into making sure you, your family and friends get to and from places is understated.
The amount of people that put their lives first to sweep, search and secure is astounding and each and every one of them needs to be acknowledged and thanked.
A great place to work and industry.
Service Excellence
The Victorian Public Service Excellence Award is one of the highest awards that one can receive at work.
In 2019 the Service Excellence Award was awarded to the Victorian delegation who were deployed to Queensland Recovery which I was apart of.
The Recognition of Service Excellence (runner up) was award to my team and I for the work we did in compliance and contract management.
It was and still is a great honour to have received such high regards for the work we do.
I've always held a firm view in life that we should move forward together and leave no one behind.
There is no greater moment then in hardship that at times, it requires us to go above and beyond.
When you're deployed as the lead, it's your duty to ensure everyone you have been tasked to support receive that support.
Ask Izzy
In 2017 I was involved in what can not be understated as a revolutionary project that bridged old industry service seeking into the new modern age of technology.
The project in it's first year alone saw multiple co-design workshops with services providers and those seeking support to develop a webapp that can be used by anyone, anywhere even without internet credit.
We worked with phone companies to make this dream a reality and for our effort won the Tech Diversity Merit Award aswell as the Google Impact Challenge award.
Bushfire, Floods and Pandemic
Over the past decade I've been involved in some pretty awesome things that have reshaped the way entire sectors are run and managed.
None more so rewarding then within the emergency management space, I've led teams into Bushfires. Was part of the state delegation into Queensland's monsoon floods and much more.
It's been both a privilege and a honour to be by peoples sides when then needed help the most.
Moments in life I will never forget
It was both an honour and privilege to have been part of the Victorian delegation to Queensland.
The devastating impacts of those floods and the carnage it did to Townsville and the community will forever be etched in my mind. The people I was deployed alongside will always remain close friends.
We worked long days and nights not resting until our work was done or emergency situations resolved.
It was Queensland's first experience at establishing a full fledged emergency management system and our team, having already developed and established much of Victoria's response was tasked with supporting the Queensland Government in establishing their processes and procedures.
Well done everyone
Soul House Project
The Soul House project was my first real experience at working alongside fantastic community leaders in establishing a project that served real purpose. Massive shout out to Helen Rodd for all her ongoing hard work across Melbourne.
Funded by Council's Community Grants Program and delivered for locals in need.
Being a Victoria University graduate has been one of my most prized accomplishments and goals in life.

Hi dear friend, It's inspiring to read about your dedication to leaving a positive impact. Your involvement in various projects, from counter-terrorism to community initiatives, shows the importance of collective effort in making the world better.
Thank you, I appreciate the comment and support
It was an absolute pleasure and Enjoyed your blog dear friend
more often we get caught up in our busy lives and never spend 5 minutes to understand what we are leaving behind and whats surround us, thats the human nature I guess but its never too late to change, I also believe in self awareness and personal growth, sometimes we can not change the world by our self but we can start at least thats what matters, imagine if everyone also decides to start to change it then it would actually happen 😎✌️
That is 100% correct. Sometimes we can't do it alone and need help..other times we must self reflect and fix ourselves.
