POB Photo Contest: Light

POB Photo Contest: Light
Gooood day @proofofbrain it has been some time since I submitted an entry in the #pobphotocontest and seeing @melinda010100 post inspired me to provide an entry of my own.

This weeks theme is #Light and reading @friendlymoose post on it really got me thinking what to submit. Whilest we did have the last supermoon of the year recently which I snapped a few shots of with my SamsungS23 phone which was used in the taking of my submission images in this post.

The Phone camera isn't the best for night time photography of the moon.

Instead, I thought I would submit some stunning images I took at an event I attended with my partner at the Windmill Gardens restaurant down the road. We even got to meet Shane Jacobson who starred in the Australian comedy Kenny.

The film is an early rendition of Mockumentary which follows Kenny who cleans porta toilets in his professional and personal life. Scenes include visiting the Pumper and Cleaner Expo in Nashville, Texas.

The Windmill Garden's windmill is an original Dutch designed windmill built by Leo Withoos who was a dutch migrant and is a fully functioning windmill. Although these days it has been transformed into a reception and dining venue. The windmill has become a local icon and its history passed down.

There are landscaped gardens and beautiful art pieces distributed around the garden along waterfalls and a beautiful lake.

There are also smaller windmills that are illuminated by LED lights and miniture barns that make the gardens look and feel like a traditional dutch farm.

The 11 hectare site was developed by Leo in the image of his homeland and much of his experiences growing up. While also providing a connection for his mother to their homeland. Today it is a popular place to visit to grab a meal and many many weddings and special events are held here per year.

It is a well known and recognised place in the western suburbs and over the years has grown in popularity with expander menu's and renovations undertaken to restore and strengthen the buildings foundations.

The building has a chapel on site for people to say I do and for anyone interested is currently on the market for $AUD15 Million. The current owners have held the property for 21 years overseeing 2500 weddings.

An amazing venu and place located in the western suburbs and captures not just the physical light but the light of love.

Id highly recommend a visit if you're ever in Melbourne's West as it is worth the view of an authentic Dutch windmill in the land down under. A site that isnt something you'd typicallt come across down here.

Thank you for reading my post. I took all these images myself and own the rights etc.

Have a wonderful day and good luck to all participants in this weeks #pobphotocontest
