This year after a long awaited pause was the Avalon Air Show which is hosted at the Avalon Airport located in the west of Victoria about 60 minutes drive from the Melbourne CBD. It was a packed out event with tickets only on sale through Ticket Tek and a sold out event ment that many couldn't get in, myself included. Typically there are tickets available at the venue but they cancelled that this year. This ment a lot of people bought tickets and are selling them at 5x the price.

I wasn't keen on paying the abhorrent over prices ticket sales and I hope there are a lot of people who did this and can't sell them and are left holding onto a loss :) Instead we headed down to the air port to watch the action from a distence. The best thing about planes is that they fly high and the fighter jets need a big run up to pick up speed so we still got to see some of the action of the bigger F-22s and F-18s.

Fighter jets from the US, UK, Australia and for the first time South Korea put on magnificant aerial displays above our skies and the very first electric plane was showcased from the UK Royal Airforce.

While we didn't get to see them upclose and personal the boundary provided a nice viewing point to still witness the fly overs and we got extra lucky with a few planes that came close. Although my phone pictures aren't the best the actual in person view was a lot better.

We also heard and felt the engine rumble and got to watch the engagement re enactment of the Aussie F-18 dropping payloads and hitting targets while also showing how they out run opponented and launch flares to avoid heat seeking missles.

The kids absolutely loved it and as the Karen I am, I will be writing in a complaint about the crappy ticket sales they implemented that saw many people rip off others. Ridiculous! I believe I may have some pictures on Hive from early years where we actually went inside and saw all the planes up close and personal. It is an experience that everyone should see and be a part of.

The first day alone saw 45,000 people attend which was unexpected for the event, In my opinion 45,000 people is not much.

We were driving back yesterday arvo (from Kensington) and a few flew over -- so cool, they're so bloody loud! Haha Karen.... that's funny. It's a shame about ticket system, didn't know that. Alot of people complained about the traffic.

Traffic is a given unfortunately, the ticket sales format was a major stuff up in my opinion.

I remember going to the Avalon air show as a young child. Great to see it is still going on. There was some thing in our ABC news radio feed the other day about Australian made military drones on display at Avalon. I am wonder whether they were on show to the public at all,

I remember going to airshows when my sons were younger. We always had a good time.
