A Mother's Grief

Perhaps, it never crossed a mother's heart that the precious gem she had long awaited would fade away first. That the soul she brought into this world would meet God sooner than she ever imagined. How would she feel? Maybe it’s a mixture of black and white, grief and surrender.

When her beloved child is gone, never to return, the mother might find herself replaying the last time her child called her "Mom." The voice she longs to hear again. The warm embrace of the soul she loves beyond words.

Every now and then, in the depths of her memory, she sees that bright smile—now just a bitter dream. As she sits beside her child’s resting place, she remembers everything, without limits. Even in the silence that feels endlessly empty, she tries to accept the fate written into this painful story.

On her face, she looks strong enough, even though the sky she gazes at feels completely void. Longing… That’s all she can say. A part of her life died with that child.

People say the bitterness will fade, that time will heal all wounds. But time requires patience, and some wounds never fully heal. Her love is too deep to simply vanish.

No matter the pain or the story, the mother believes that God has prepared the best place for her child who left and never returned. She believes that prayer is her strength, her final gift, the best gift, for a human being she calls “My child.”
