The Festivus in a house of Baristas…
It was the 23rd December… everyone was preparing for the Christmas Eve, but the Baristas family were different. (Yes, they are actually Baristas with their surname)
They were one of these families to celebrate such a nonsense like Festivus. The Baristas name came back from the time when grandpa Master Barista went to Italy to join this course of professional baristas. His name before getting the degree was Allan Smith, but his genius mind decided it would be better if people ca him Master Barista… officially!
Everyone was around the table already… everyone except Junior.
Junior Barista was trained just recently and he was not very confident with his coffee preparing abilities and everyone in the family was expecting much. After all, when you come with your surname, you cannot go poorly in this craft. There is no way a real Barista can serve you mediocre espresso. This would ruin the reputation of the Baristas pretty quick.
Now Junior was late. He knew what would happen with this bizarre celebration. He knew he would be the main target of the evening, but eventually he showed off.
“Uh… Good evening! Am I late?” Junior asked quietly.
“Happy Festivus… here… take a seat next to the pole!” Master Barista said in a quite cheerful manner. He already had enjoyed a whiskey or two, waiting for others to gain around the table.
“Now let’s begin!”, Master barista continued. “I’ll have to start with the youngest and the least skillful one among us… Junior! I have to tell you… no one was expecting from you to become a tel barista and you just surpassed our expectations. Could you even grind coffee normally? I’ve heard that you pulled the most terrible tasting espresso shots ever. No one in the Bartender academy presented so poorly. You are a shame!”
Not that Junior was giving much attention to his words, but they hurt him a bit. He had a great dedication about proper coffee brewing, but things just took longer than expected in Junior’s case.
In the meantime, others around the table started cheering with joy. They seemed excited about the troublesome training of Junior.
But Junior’s mind was already thinking about the dinner’s end. He knew it was gonna take him time, but one day he would become a real barista. He was gonna protect his family name with honor, but not now… He was eagerly waiting for that oldie to announce the end of the celebration so that everyone will start pulling him and trying to pin him. What a sweet victory would that be.
…
Junior was already in his bed. He was relieved and the old Master’s face as he’s pinned to the ground was in front of his eyes.
“He will learn his lesson, he will see…” and after this Festivus dinner, Junior Barista was more dedicated than ever, to learn skills and become the best of Baristas’ family.
LOL! It seems that this time Junior will learn the lesson and use his abilities better, everyone is fervently waiting for that.
Sometimes skill is gained the hard way… but hard work eventually will pay off… most of the cases 😁 Junior will be just fine.
With a name like Barista, he certainly has a lot to live up to. I hope that he succeeds and comes back next year better than everyone.
I hope he will surpass the expectations too!
With that last name, you have a lot of burden, a lot of pressure and a lot of responsibility. A difficult Festivus for Junior.
The name really brings a lot of responsibility with it! Junior has to spend a lot of time working on coffee, if he wants to be a proper part of the family.
Your wild thoughts about coffee are really cool. Your post is really cool, Mr. @mdosev.
The bet is on the good name and family lineage behind the birth of a cup of quality coffee, but dedication to coffee is everything; one day it will be big and fragrant—as big and fragrant as coffee itself.
Have a great day.
I’m glad that you like my post! Sometimes I come with such interesting ideas, that I surprise even myself.
Have a great day!
As I've seen in the comments, I thought the same too, that the pressure would be on.
You seem to have gotten into the theme of this story well:)))

Sometimes it’s more difficult when people have high expectations on you, especially when it’s the family and your name!
