My coffee provisions hit a critical low level recently. Now what?
It has never been so devastating… at least for the last year or so. When I buy a new coffee I usually have about 500g of coffee beans remaining. Yesterday I realized that the amount of coffee available at home is less than 100 grams!
Well, I expect two special deliveties, one from Japan ans one from South Korea, but I don’t know if they will be in my hands tomorrow, or later. I had to do something immediately and find at least a handfull of beans to live through the weekend. 🤷🏻♂️
The choice was clear - I had to visit the Specialty Place 23 and buy a bag of coffee. And although this dorsn’t fit in my busy schedule that easy, I managed to make a quick stop after finishing my workday.
I was a bit sad, to be honest… a bit sad, because the coffee selection that is available now is very limited. The owner Misho prepares for the AeroPress national comoetition (which is today) and he is not that much into making new purchases. The beans that were available were more of a traditional chocolate and brown sugar tasting ones, and you know that my preference is more towards the fruity tasting and special flavor one.
Well, after seeing my frustration, misho decided to go in the back room storage area of the coffee shop and find something for me.
“Well, here is a decaf bag, do you want it?” Misho asked
“Hell no!” was my answer 😁
After a bit more searching he took out this bag of beans.
He explaine that this is one of his favorite coffees and he prepred himself for the AeroPress competition with this exact coffee. He generously gave me 100 grams of it, for free, to help my “coffee” situation, or maybe it is better to say “no coffee” situation.
Although Misho knows that I am going to consume the beans almost immediately, he decided to seal them just for further safety…
And these championship beans come with the championship recipe, of course! All of this straight from the guy who took the third place in the AeroPress national competition a couple of times.
We measure 18 grams of this Colombian coffee. Its aroma is intensively fruitful, the one that I like the most. These are really some nice looking, light roasted beans!
The grind setting for the Chestnut C3 manual grinder is 23-24, and it is great that Misho has the same grinder. It is dead easy to copy the exact recipe when I have this same grinder!
Twenty seconds later and I have 18 groams of freshly ground coffee beans. Time to prepare the AeroPress. This is the easiest part, becaue this tool is amazingly easy to use.
We need 150 grams of water for 18 grams of beans and they will brew about 1:30 minutes. That is the point at which I have to start extracting the coffee. The final drops should come out at about 2 minutes exactly.
Then, after the coffee is already out of the AeroPress I have to add 50 grams of additional water. This makes a ratio about 1:11, which is our aim now. Let’s add it and see if this will taste like a competition coffee!
In the cup I have very fresh and sweetful coffee. I definitely can taste the gentle tropical vibes of mango and pineapple. And this is a coffee, that I haven’t tried before. It is really great to have a friend like Misho around you, who can deliver you some various and special beans ocassionally. I think that he might achieve something better than 3rd place this year and I keep my fingers crossed.
I’ll now enjoy my peaceful Saturday off-work morning with this delicious coffee. See you soon and have a wonderful weekend!
Bye!
It's awesome that Misho gifted you some beans to get through the weekend, and that they were such special ones! I had to look up the AeroPress competitions; how great to share your love of coffee with someone who competes in them! 😁☕️
He is currently competing and we are looking his performance. Luckily there is a live footage broadcasted from the event.
The coffee he gave me is really tasty and, yes having a friend like Misho is a real blessing!

That is so generous of Misho to give you additional 100 grams of coffee beans. As for me, I like my coffee strong sometimes. It keeps me awake for a few hours unlike the sweet ones but sometimes, I also like to enjoy the sweeter side of coffee. :")
Coffee has stopped to keep me awake for quite some time now. I consume it genuinely for pleasure and spirit boost! I like when I receive coffee related presents, but Maybe everyone in this community would like to receive one.

A coffee made to the perfect measure and with the exquisite flavor of the best Colombian coffee. A good profit
I leave you a cup of delicious coffee.☕
Good day.
A really good Colombian coffee, for sure! These 100 grams saved the weekend. 😁
I'm glad that you found a way to get some coffee. That's the worst experience ever. It happened to me when I lived in the Philippines. I was accustomed to guests taking coffee as a gift for my husband. Suddenly after Covid all that stopped and my supply was low. In the small village where I lived, I was extremely lucky to find the last bag of Dunkin Donuts coffee on a shelf, or else I would have been doomed 😆

Wow, your situation was even worse, because after all I had some choice and well, all the supermarkets are full of commercial beans. The situation has already normalized. 😁
