Let’s celebrate December with a West Coast IPA!

Well, well… It is already December and we are already reaching the second week of it. Weather is gradully becoming colder and colder and I think this is a perfect time to enjoy a beer… And yes, West Coast IPA doesn’t sound that appealing, but who cares!

The west coast variety of this famous style is definitely my favorite one, because I love the driness it carries. It makes the great flavors and aroma of the hops shine in a brilliant manner. I love the WC IPA since the day I tried my favorite Stone IPA back in the days. Now
i dont know if this brewery is still in the game, because I haven’t seen their product in quite some time.

The beer is brewed in Bulgaria by the Beer bastards and its name is “Силно Положение” which is a catch phrase from the Bulgarian language. It is translated literally “Strong position”.

In the glass this beer looks solid. It is golden yellow, with some hints of amber and it is a bit hazy. It develops quite a good head which stays a while. Carbonation is in mid levels which looks very appealing. Aroma wise, there is strong citrus forward, a bit of pine and very, very fresh. I’ll give it a 10/10 score here.

A quick mention for the design of the label… It definitely looks cool and it is a bold decision to make this stripped label design. I’ve seen very weird and wild labels from
The beer bastards and with this one they went towards a more “boring” one. One thing is clear… it doesn’t distract you from the name of the beer.

In the mouth, this brew stays quite dry and definitely deligers a fresh butst of hops. I can really assure you that this is close to the perfect image of a WC IPA that is saved in my mind. I think the Stone IPA, back in the days, was quite a lot better, but this is still very good. Admirations foor the Beer Bastards brew team!

And now some final words…

The Силно Положение West Coast IPA is a good beer and if I have th opportunity, I will definitely buy another one. And if you ever come to Bulgaria and visit a craft beer store, definitely search for the Beer Bastards products. You won’t be disappointed.
