I am more than happy with my new coffee grinder! Please welcome the EUREKA Mignon Zero!

Hey, coffee lovers, how are you? Hope that all of you enjoy tasty and flavorful coffee lately!

Although I am not that consistent with Hive and this community lately, you are most likely familiar with my passion about coffee and special equipment for brewing our favourite drink. That’s why I am that passionate about buying new tools for brewing coffee. Up until now I was using an electrical coffee grinder for my espresso coffee that had conical burrs. They are usually a bit cheaper and produce lower grade grinds.

I felt that it was time to upgrade it, after all I was using it more than three years! It’s not because it was not doing its job anymore… I just wanted something better! So, let me introduce you… the Eureka Mignon Zero grinder!

For comparison, I bought my forst electrical grinder for about $180 and this one cost me roughly double! And I bought it with 15% discount off from the regular price.

You may ask what is the thing that makes it better and worth upgrading to. Well, there are a bunch of reasons that you will be happier with this pricier grinder.

The main difference, thet can be found is that the Eureka grinder comes with a set of flat burrs, while my older grinder had conical ones. This leads to a couple of advantages as well.

First of all flat burrs grind coffee faster than conical. My new grinder copes with 1,6-2 grams per second while the older did about 0,8-2. Of course, this advantage is not crucial for home use, because I usually brew 2 espresso coffees in the morning and sometimes 2 more in the afrernoon. Not a big deal…

Secondly… flat burrs produce a lot more even grinds, which leads to cleaner and more pronounced flavor profile. You can tune your grind size to a great perfection and don’t bother chainging it again, at least until you switch to a different coffee!

The third main difference is the build quality. Not only the new grinder is shinier, it is also three times heavier, with a lot better sound insulation. When you put it on the kitchen top, it doesn’t move at all and grinding is extremely quiet. The first time I switched this on, I was completely surprised with the quiet buzzing. Amazing!

This model of EUREKA is named Zero, because it was designed to grind coffee with zero retention. This is not completely true, but let’s say… after 3-4 doses of espresso (post cleaning), you can achieve zero retrntion grinding. This is because there are always some tiny particles which stock here and there in the grinder and cannot get out easily. But if you tap on the lid with the rubber gasket you get out a lot of stuck coffee.

To be honest, the difference in the grinding between the two grinders is huge. I am extremely happy that I managed to buy the Mignon Zero grinder and I am happy that I waited long enoigh to see it doscounted on the official distribitor’s website here in Bulgaria. My espresso coffee never tasted more refined and flavorful.

My friend barista that owns a coffee shop told me that maybe there isnt better tasting home coffee in our city. And I bet that is true! Of course, good coffee requires some tasty beans! That’s why we buy only high quality specialty coffee!

Now… this is actually not a bew grinder anymore, because it is now 9 months old, but I really didnt find enough time to take photos of it and share it with you, after the unlucky events with my wife and the car crash… she is now freling a lot better, although we have at least a couple more surgical interventions some time in the future.

Thanks for reading and see you again soon!
Bye!

I absolutely love coffee. Had it yesterday but didn’t share it on here. I’ll share posts about my coffee now that I have found out about the coffee community on hive. Thanks for sharing.
