Odonata.
We often don't notice what amazing gifts nature hides in its lap One beautiful afternoon I went to spend some quiet time in nature Suddenly a strange and beautiful insect came into view in the thick green leaves a slender brown dragonfly or in Bengali what we call 'bangchatai or langpoka I immediately captured this moment on my phone The pictures shared below are a testament to that discovery The name of this insect is Dragonfly but it is a small and simple species of the common dragonfly which is often called ground skimmer or dwarf dragonfly in English Its scientific name varies in many cases depending on the region but this small insect belonging to the Odonata class is an incredible sight to see Its two eyes are large pinkish rusty which emit a special glow in the sunlight.
The body is long and slender a combination of brown and yellow Its four wings are transparent and have a fine mesh-like pattern There are dark spots on the edges of the wings which give it a unique feature While sitting still on the leaves it seems as if nature itself is painting a perfect work of art Dragonflies are usually seen in small ponds bushes or areas with dense foliage They can fly very fast and their eyesight is extraordinary Dragonflies mainly eat small insects and spiders and in nature they also act as a natural alternative to insect pests They balance our environment by eating harmful insects such as mosquitoes flies and mites The light of the afternoon that day was absolutely perfect The sun was setting and its golden rays fell on the leaves This insect that suddenly caught my eye was completely silent it seemed as if it too had some feeling of being lost in the beauty of nature I slowly aimed the camera so that I could capture the picture before it flew away The yield to light the green of the leaves and the transparent wings of the insect all together this picture is like a picture of a perfect moment.
Meeting and photographing this insect is not only a beauty experience but it has awakened in me even more gratitude and interest in nature We often do not understand the importance of these small creatures But they are one of the parts of the complex balance of nature Insects that used to scare us when we were young today when they are captured on camera they win our hearts Nature teaches us patience observation and respect which is not only for humans or large creatures but also for small creatures I was as surprised as I was when I saw this small insect that evening and I was also overwhelmed with emotion By capturing its picture I felt like I had found a priceless treasure This subtle beauty of nature which is hidden around us every day can be found if we pay a little attention So it can be said there is a unique work of art hidden in every corner of nature all it takes is a little love and a deep vision.
