A roadside vendor selling healthy fruits and food.

‎

How is everyone doing? I hope your lives are filled with beauty and joy. In today's excursion, we will explore photos of some interesting fruit and food stalls along the streets of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh.

These hardworking individuals earn their livelihood by selling their fruit—often from 2:00 PM until 10:00 PM or even midnight—right on the street where people pass by. Their offerings include a variety of items such as tamarind, lemons, small starfruit, yellow amla (Indian gooseberry), karamcha, olives, capsicum, and the fiery Bombay chili. Despite the challenging circumstances, they manage to support their families through this unique street-side business.

Additionally, vendors stand by the roadside with three-wheeled vans, selling local produce such as special guavas, watermelons, papayas, Malta oranges, and hog plums. Papayas sell for 100 Taka per kilogram and hog plums for 80 Taka. Although they work very hard, they earn their livelihood by selling these fruits. I have always held respect for their honest work.

Even within Dhaka city and its surrounding areas, one can find captivating rural scenes that are truly enchanting; this particular spot, in particular, brings me great joy. Moreover, the sight of charming tin houses and banana trees along the roadside creates a delightful atmosphere. I thoroughly enjoyed capturing photographs of these lovely scenes while walking by.

A vegetable vendor runs a thriving business at this attractive roadside spot in Dhaka. A hardworking individual, he sources these vegetables from the capital's Karwan Bazar to sell in the neighborhood. In this pleasant setting, he offers a variety of produce—such as taro stolons, potatoes, pointed gourds, snake gourds, ridge gourds, bottle gourds, papayas, pumpkins, and lemons. You can purchase any quantity you need, starting from 250 grams; prices range from 30 Taka to 120 Taka per kilogram. The vegetables are truly fresh, as you can see in the accompanying photo. He is a remarkably hardworking man, standing here to sell his produce until midnight.

This engaging egg vendor prepares the dish by adding special ingredients—such as chickpeas, onions, green chilies, spices, and cucumber—offering portions ranging from 10 to 20 Taka or more. It serves as an excellent option for instant street food. Moreover, the neat polythene covering provides effective protection for the food, giving the impression of a hygienic and appealing meal.

Walking along the roadside allows us to see so much, creating truly beautiful stories. That is why I love walking; it also ensures I stay healthy and fit. This particular fruit vendor is one such hardworking individual who earns a living selling fruit by the roadside in Dhaka. Thank you all for your cooperation and for sharing your valuable time with me.

This is one of my favorite thing to go to because there were lots of foods along the street and I saw one of the fruit that I've been longing for, the tamarind, it's been a while now since I last tasted a tamarind. I think it was a decade or so ago that I have tasted a real tamarind from the tamarind tree.

There were also other unfamiliar fruits that I haven't tasted yet and I think I might get to visit on that place so that I can taste other fruits that were not available here in our place.

I was amazed when I saw the vegetables because they’re pretty much the same kinds of vegetables we see farmers selling along the roads here in the Philippines.

I believe agriculture should really be one of the government’s priorities because food is something we need every day. Farmers are the ones who make sure we have food on our tables, so they deserve more support and help.
