A boy in the field.

Life serves up moments that seem to be poetry in motion moments that, when you circle back and reflect on them, are so gentle and quietly beautiful. And you are almost prompted to stop dead in your tracks and drink it all in. I recently had the privilege to witness one of those moments. A young boy was standing in a field, surrounded by what I am assuming were hundreds of doves, and for one brief blink, the world around this boy began to subside into a soft quiet.

He stood still with a small handful of cereals, and he watched as the doves danced all around him. fluttering and circling him as if he was with them. I enjoyed the moment because there is so much more than just a beautiful picture. It was a moment of peace, innocence, and a deeper conscience of the relation we have with nature when harmony is given room and place to exist.

What struck me most was the boy's and the bird's state. The boy was soft smiling, and the seemingly infinite amount of doves made no noticeable impression on the boy at all. The birds were not frightened. They had trust. Every single bird was there for some grain, but they were still able to share the same space. their wings brushing together, each ultimately part of their own quiet dance.

I could not help but take several photographs. I wanted to capture the moment, to freeze the feeling, the simple joy, and the soft rhythm of life's calmness playing itself out at this particular time and place in the world. And now I share it with you, my readers, which is important because that kind of beauty deserves to be shared and remembered.

It made me think of something that is very important and that peace exists. That the world, even just for a minute, can still provide us with a moment of innocence and calm. Sometimes, it takes only a boy, a field, and a pile of grain to pull us back to our understanding of how connected we are to anything and everything that is alive.

It was more than a pretty picture. It was a reminder. A reminder that kindness, patience, and simplicity can still create harmony. And what a beautiful thing to stand witness to.

Happiness is sometimes much more than that, and sometimes much less, my friend. You are absolutely right about that. The photos are very inspiring. They show how happy a child can be with something so simple, just by giving.
