Before leaving Mexico I had the opportunity to visit historical sites including ruins of ancient towns and the pyramids, I also visited several magical towns which are a magnet for tourists.

The last place I visited before my trip to Spain was this incredible place called Otomi Ceremonial Center.

It is a place that was built in 1980 for the Otomi people to have a sacred place for their rituals and religious festivities, and also to keep their culture alive.

The center was designed according to the ancestral ceremonial centers, each sculpture symbolizes something religious.

This building represents the birth of the seven tribes that settled in the Valley of Mexico and each column represents the cavern from which each tribe originated.

This place also acts as a center for religious and civic meetings of the Otomi people.

This enormous sculpture that you can see in the images above and below, represents the monument to the Sun God, and every March 18th the ceremony of the Fifth Sun is celebrated in that place.

Around the sculpture are 12 cones which represent the twelve months of the year.

Throughout the architectural complex of the ceremonial center, you can appreciate 52 columns in the form of intertwined snakes that symbolize the 52 weeks of the year, the stairways have 365 steps that represent the days of the year. Something curious about this place is that it was used as a stage in one of the recordings of License to Kill of the James Bond saga. In this video, you can see some of the images from the movie.

If you ever visit Mexico do not miss this place, I am sure you will have a wonderful experience, there are many cabins around where you can stay, the mountain climate is very pleasant and it is the ideal place to escape from the city.
