Fiesta cultural para todos/Cultural party for everyone

Hola amigos, en estos días estamos de fiesta cultural en La Habana. Como cada diciembre desde 1979, se está celebrando el Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano, en su edición número 44. Aquí se proyectan en varios cines las películas que están en concurso, las cuales tienen que tener temáticas latinoamericanas. Concursan en las secciones de Óperas Primas para los realizadores que exponen su primera obra, Ficción, Documentales, Animación. También se proyectan películas en la Sección Clásicos de filmes muy antiguos que fueron restaurados.
En Cuba siempre ha sido muy esperado este festival, somos muy amantes del cine y del buen arte, año tras año se hacen largas filas para entrar a los cines. A pesar del acceso masivo a filmes y series a través de los teléfonos celulares y la televisión en casa, aún existe un público fiel al cine en pantalla grande y en este grupo nos incluimos mi esposo y yo.
Este año tuvo una particularidad para hacer de este festival una verdadera fiesta cultural al alcance de todos. Por primera vez se cerró el tráfico vial de la céntrica avenida de 23 y 12 en el Vedado. Pusieron una tarima para conciertos de prestigiosos músicos, cantantes y agrupaciones musicales, además colocaron una pantalla para proyectar filmes al aire libre ¡todo totalmente gratis!

También encontramos un sitio de ventas de libros, ¡sí, libros de papel…! De buena calidad y a un precio muy económico, no hay nada como leer y hojear un libro, por supuesto que compramos algunos ejemplares.

En esta zona se encuentra el cine Charles Chaplin que consideramos es uno de nuestros mejores cines por su calidad de sonido, pantalla y ambientación. Para nosotros, ver una película en pantalla grande en el cine es la mejor opción. Por eso ayer vimos 2 películas: Malecón y Mi nombre es Gal. Las dos nos gustaron mucho por el tema tratado y la buena actuación de sus protagonistas. Cuando se proyecta por primera vez una película en el festival se hace presentación oficial con sus directores y algunos de sus actores. Así pudimos conocer a una parte del elenco artístico y de la dirección de estas dos películas.

Al lado del cine se puede apreciar una exposición de diversas cámaras de filmación que se han usado en nuestro país con las cuales se han realizado importantes películas y documentales, también podemos observar los carteles de los filmes presentados en todas las ediciones de este festival.

Después de ver la película Malecón salimos a recorrer los alrededores y encontramos a 300 metros de la tarima principal, específicamente en la calle 8 y 25, otra tarima donde se presentan los estudiantes de la escuela de música “Manuel Saumel” y nos deleitamos con interpretaciones de importantes y famosas obras musicales, pudimos apreciar el virtuosismo de nuestros niños, para corroborar la certeza de la frase que Cuba es la isla de la música.
Luego visitamos unos puestos de comida rápida para reponer nuestras energías y nos sentamos frente a la tarima principal donde nos sorprendió la interpretación del grupo Mezcla con Pablo Menéndez, excelente música, ¡eso sí es música! En estos tiempos, donde nos invaden con tanto ruido, cuando nos tropezamos con espectáculos así, es como alimentar el alma y por eso lo disfrutamos al máximo.

Al salir de ver la segunda película, eran las 9 y 30 pm vimos que había cantidad de personas que estaban viendo la proyección de la película cubana Play Station, luego de animados de Juan Padrón. A las 10:30 pm comenzó el concierto con el Dúo Iris, al terminar nos fuimos para la casa porque la jornada cultural que tuvimos nos agotó jaja.

Hello friends, these days we are having a cultural party in Havana. As every December since 1979, the 44th edition of the International Festival of New Latin American Cinema is being held. Here the films in competition, which must have Latin American themes, are screened in several theaters. They compete in the sections of Opera Primas for filmmakers exhibiting their first work, Fiction, Documentaries, Animation. Films are also screened in the Classics Section of very old films that have been restored.
In Cuba this festival has always been eagerly awaited, we are very fond of cinema and good art, year after year there are long lines to enter the cinemas. Despite the massive access to films and series through cell phones and television at home, there is still a loyal audience for movies on the big screen and in this group my husband and I are included.
This year had a special feature to make this festival a true cultural festival available to everyone. For the first time, the road traffic on the central avenue of 23rd and 12th in Vedado was closed. A stage was set up for concerts by prestigious musicians, singers and musical groups, and a screen was set up to project films in the open air, all totally free of charge!
We also found a place to sell books, yes, paper books...! Of good quality and at a very cheap price, there is nothing like reading and browsing a book, of course we bought some copies.
In this area is the Charles Chaplin cinema which we consider to be one of our best cinemas for its quality of sound, screen and ambiance. For us, watching a movie on a big screen at the cinema is the best option. So yesterday we saw 2 movies: Malecón and Mi nombre es Gal. We liked both of them very much because of the subject matter and the good acting of their protagonists. When a film is screened for the first time at the festival there is an official presentation with its directors and some of its actors. Thus we were able to meet part of the artistic cast and the direction of these two films.
Next to the cinema we can see an exhibition of various film cameras that have been used in our country with which important films and documentaries have been made, we can also see the posters of the films presented in all editions of this festival.
After watching the film Malecón we went out to walk around and found 300 meters from the main stage, specifically on 8th and 25th Street, another stage where the students of the music school "Manuel Saumel" perform and we were delighted with interpretations of important and famous musical works, we could appreciate the virtuosity of our children, to corroborate the certainty of the phrase that Cuba is the island of music.
Then we visited some fast food stands to replenish our energy and we sat down in front of the main stage where we were surprised by the performance of the group Mezcla with Pablo Menendez, excellent music, that is music! In these times, where we are invaded with so much noise, when we stumble upon shows like this, it is like feeding the soul and that is why we enjoyed it to the fullest.
When we left the second movie at 9:30 pm, we saw that there were a lot of people watching the screening of the Cuban movie Play Station, after the animated film by Juan Padrón. At 10:30 pm began the concert with the Duo Iris, at the end we went home because the cultural day we had exhausted us haha.
