Scarlet Tanager - Animal Series

From my animal series, I present to you my new piece of digital art. I sketched a little bird with varieties of colors perching on a tree. This specie of bird is called Scarlet Tanager.

This bird is noted with its blood-red bodies with its wings and tail having a jet-black color while its beak has a light yellowish color with few drops of green.

Initially, I never wanted to add colors but I thought it would be nice to do so. It looks lovely with varieties of colors on every part of its body. I enjoyed working on this piece from stage one to final.

The painting was done with AutoDesk sketchbook application and I found my reference photo here. Below are my steps by step processes:

That’s a lovely sketch. I bet the bird is quite striking in the flesh (or feathers!)
It’s lovely to see some of your work in colour too. I really like this one, even though it is different from the sketches I have come to recognise your work by. Great job!

I think those feathers made it look outstanding from other birds. It's rare to see such kind of bird with wings' color different from the body's.

Thanks a lot. I am glad you like this particular piece.
