There was still snow =/= Es lag noch Schnee - Aizu Impressions 👹🍣🎎 Wonderful Japan ENG-GER

Even though the snow on our doorstep melted weeks ago, other regions of the country still look very different even now in March, as we were just able to see for ourselves on a trip to the heartland of the country. We were visiting the Aizu province in western Fukushima, which is surrounded by high mountain ranges where winter is still maintaining its grip.

Especially when we got a little further into the mountains, in many places we found a thick blanket of snow, which showed that spring was still a long way off here. Suddenly we were getting really cold again and we were glad that we had taken precautions for this situation and brought us some warm gloves and scarves.

I was actually happy to have encountered winter once more and to be able to embrace it.
There was hardly any snow in our city this year, so once again you had to worry about what was going on with the climate. And it had been far too mild and dry elsewhere in the country too, so I was amazed at how white it was in this place.

Every now and then the snow became a bit of a challenge, especially where it turned the road in front of us into a white track so that I had to fully concentrate on driving. Here in the mountains, I preferred to rather drive slowly and carefully, although my main aim was not to avoid skidding, but to make sure I didn't get stuck on that snowy road so that I couldn't get any further. Fortunately, we mastered this part quite well and most of the roads that followed were very easy to drive on. Only this one section, which we can see in the first photo, was a bit of a challenge.

Auch wenn der Schnee bei uns vor der Haustür schon vor Wochen getaut ist, sieht es in anderen Regionen des Landes auch jetzt im März noch ganz anders aus, wovon wir uns gerade erst bei einem Ausflug in das Landesinnere überzeugen konnten. Wir waren zu Besuch in der Aizu-Provinz im Westen Fukushimas, welche umgeben von hohen Bergketten ist, in denen der Winter noch ganz deutlich das Zepter des Handelns in der Hand hielt.

Besonders wenn man etwas mehr in die Berge hinein kam, fanden wir an vielen Orten eine dichte geschlossene Schneedecke, die zeigte, dass der Frühling hier noch weit entfernt war. Auf einmal wurde auch uns wieder richtig kalt und wir waren froh, genau für diese Situation vorgesorgt und Schal und Handschuhe im Gepäck zu haben.

Eigentlich war ich sogar froh darüber, dem Winter noch einmal begegnet zu sein und mich ihm hingeben zu können. Bei uns in der Stadt gab es in diesem Jahr kaum Schnee, so dass man sich mal wieder Sorgen um die klimatischen Gegebenheiten machen konnte. Und auch an anderen Stellen im Lande war es viel zu mild und trocken gewesen, so dass ich sehr erstaunt war, wie weiß es hier doch war.

Ab und zu wurde der Schnee zu einer kleinen Herausforderung, vor allem dort, wo er in die Straße vor einem in eine weiße Bahn verwandelt, auf der ich mich beim Autofahren voll konzentrieren musste. Hier in den Bergen fahre ich dann doch lieber langsam und vorsichtig, obwohl meine Hauptziel nicht war, nicht ins rutschen zu kommen, sondern hier auf keinem Fall auf der Straße stecken zu bleiben und nicht weiter zu kommen. Aber glücklicherweise habe wir auch das gut gemeistert und die meisten Straßen waren auch sehr gut zu befahren. Nur diese eine Stück, welche wir im ersten Foto sehen, war eine kleine Herausforderung.

Apart from that, it was really fun to walk in the snow and admire the beautiful winter landscape around me. Winter also has a very beautiful and romantic side, which I am only too happy to approach.

Ansonsten hatte es soagr richtig Spaß gemacht, im Schnee zu laufen und dabei die herrliche Winetrlandschaft um einen herum zu bewundern. Der Winter hat ja auch eine sehr schöne und romantische Seite, welche ich mich nur zu gerne nähere.

It wasn't just me who enjoyed dashing through the snow, but especially the little ones, who often didn't want to walk any further. They would rather have stopped and played with the white splendor here and everywhere. I can understand that all too well, but unfortunately it's usually me who drives us all on again. I simply have too many goals in my head, even though I should just let myself fall into the snow.

Durch den Schnee zu stoben hat nicht nur mir, sondern vor allen den Kleinen sehr gefallen, welche oft gar nicht weiter wollten, sondern lieber hier und überall mit der weißen Pracht gespielt hätten. Verstehen kann ich das ja nur zu gut, aber leider bin ich es dann meistens, der uns alle wieder antreibt, weiter zu gehen. Ich habe einfach zu viele Ziele im Kopf, obwohl ich mich einfach in den Schnee fallen lassen sollte.

Now that we've returned home, winter seems so far away again. There's no more snow to be seen anywhere and it seems that spring will be here in the next few days. As I write these lines, I suddenly feel a little melancholy rising up. There is always so much that we have missed and that we haven't made time for. But complaining doesn't help either, I should rather be happy about everything I was able to see and experience. Because others are not so lucky!

Jetzt nach unserer Rückkehr nach Hause scheint der Winter schon wieder so weit weg zu sein. Kein Schnee mehr zu sehen und in den nächsten Tagen wird der Frühling dann auch bei uns Einzug halten. Jetzt beim Schreiben dieser Zeilen überkommt mich auf einmal ein wenig Wehmut. Es gibt immer so viel, was wir verpasst haben und wofür wir uns keine Zeit gelassen haben. Aber lamentieren hilft hier auch nichts, viel besser sollte ich froh sein über all das, was ich sehen und erleben durfte. Andere haben nämlich nicht so viel Glück!

And that's exactly why I like to look back on our trip and share my memories and experiences with you at this place here. Our trip was short but intense and showed me once again that you can experience and discover something everywhere. Even, or perhaps especially, in winter, there are so many reasons to leave the house and explore the great outdoors. With or without snow, our world is simply beautiful and I am very grateful that I have already been able to see so much of it. And that's why I'm so glad for what I've experienced and at the same time looking forward to everything that's coming up. I'm sure it will be interesting again and give us something to laugh about. And that's perhaps what's it all about!

Und genau aus diesem Grund blicke ich ja auch gerne zurück auf unseren Ausflug und teile meine Erinnerungen und Erlebnisse hier mit euch. Unser Trip war zwar kurz aber doch intensiv und hat mir wieder einmal gezeigt, dass man überall etwas erleben und entdecken kann. Auch oder vielleicht sogar gerade im Winter gibt es so viele Gründe, das Haus zu verlassen und sich draußen unter freiem Himmel umzusehen. Mit oder ohne Schnee, unsere Welt ist einfach schön und ich bin doch sehr dankbar darüber, dass ich so viel von ihr bereits sehen durfte. Und daher freue ich mich einfach über das Erlebte und gleichzeitig auch auf all das, was demnächst anstehen wird. Es wird mir Sicherheit wieder interessant werden und etwas zum Lachen geben. Und das ist vielleicht sogar das Wichtigste!
