Looking back at our last Aizu trip πŸ‘ΉπŸ£πŸŽŽ Wonderful Japan

We recently treated ourselves to a short trip, which once again took us to the Aizu region in the west of Fukushima Prefecture. Even though it had only been a few days, this trip had nevertheless been full of powerful impressions that I hadn't had time to reflect on yet. There was too much to do and everyday life returned too quickly. But to keep my own memories fresh, there's nothing better than looking through my photo folder, selecting a few pictures and writing a few lines about them. That way, the impressions and memories solidify and last longer.

So today we have a small, casual photo series, which should manage to share a little of the atmosphere that always attracts and inspires us there in Aizu and which hopefully will share this very atmosphere to the dear reader.

As I can already see a small smile on my own face, I think I'm on the right track. So let's just take a look together...

As you could see at the beginning, there is a castle in Aizu, which I have already introduced a few times before. The Aizu clan used to control the surrounding province from this castle, and today it provides quite vivid lessons in the history of Japan. We at least have learned quite a lot here.

And all those colors. Although on the way to Aizu we have already spotted the first snow in the mountains, in some places autumn was still making an appearance, which we didn't expect here.

But all the better, a little color on the trees and bushes always puts you in a good mood and makes the castle park look even more interesting.

In one place in particular, a maple tree with its red leaves made for a truly magnificent sight that I won't forget any time soon.

IMG_3813.JPG

Who wouldn't want to dive into this sea of red leaves? We did it, you better believe us!

IMG_3907.JPG

We also got our helping of culture. As usual, it was mostly about shrines...

IMG_3744.JPG

...and temples, of which there are a lot to see in Japan. And we always find new ones to visit.

IMG_3913.JPG

The wildlife also came out and we were able to get quite close to some of them. It's nice when even the fauna starts to be friendly.

IMG_3886.JPG

Although some preferred to keep their distance and watch from a safe place.

IMG_9642.JPG

But as I said, others almost jumped into our car, they were so trusting and we were quite familiar to them. It's always nice to meet someone you know.

IMG_3865.JPG

However, elsewhere we didn't really want to get to know each other and decided not to meet up. Sometimes you don't know for sure who you're going to end up with.

IMG_3870.JPG

We've already covered the topic of colors, but there's always room for a little more. Here we have persimmons hanging out to dry, of which there seem to be a lot in this area.

IMG_3872.JPG

But you still need to keep a close eye on them. You never know who might be hanging around here.

IMG_3882.JPG

There was also a little bit of yellow, which the Karin fruit offers us. These days, this fruit is falling from the trees and has many uses, including in traditional medicine.

IMG_3862.JPG

And then there were all the wonderful views that we were repeatedly presented with during our drives through the mountains. And surprisingly, we also discovered a bit of blue sky from time to time, so that the world around us often looked wonderfully peaceful. As usual, we had far too little time and our trip came to an end too quickly, but we know exactly where we want to go again. Aizu is always worth a trip for us, and it doesn't matter what time of year we come here. And even if it takes a while until the next visit, luckily we still have our memories and all the pictures to remind us of all the great moments. It worked today for me, so I'll better say goodbye and take these impressions with me into the night...
