It won't be long, as spring is slowly picking up speed. Well, the pace is still rather modest, and at times it still feels as if winter doesn't want to go away, with sudden cold spells and snowfall.

But the signs are impossible to miss, you just have to open your eyes!

As always, it's the plum tree that gets the ball rolling. It too captivates with its small, delicate flowers, mostly pink and sometimes white. The plum tree, called “ume” in Japan, may not be quite as popular as its big sister, the cherry blossom, but it also manages to inspire.

Precisely because it is the first to bloom and is a clear sign that winter is coming to an end, I am even more excited to discover its first blossoms. Finally, some color comes back into play and the gray and cold everyday life is suddenly not as gray and cold as it was yesterday.

And that's exactly why I'm so happy about my first encounter with the ume blossoms. Spring will soon be here and then it will finally be a little greener and more colorful. There's still a little way to go, but as I said... a first, enchanting start has been made!

Bald ist es soweit, der Frühling nimmt so langsam Fahrt auf. Nun ja, noch ist das Tempo eher bescheiden, und teilweise fühlt es sich auch noch an, als würde der Winter nicht weichen wollen und es wird plötzlich wieder kalt und fängt an zu schneien.

Aber die Zeichen sind nicht zu übersehen, man muss nur die Augen aufmachen!

Wie immer ist es die Pflaume, die den Anfang macht. Auch sie besticht mit kleinen zarten Blüten, meist in rosa und manchmal auch in weiß. Die Pflaume, in Japan "Ume" genannt, ist vielleicht nicht ganz so populär wie ihre große Schwester die Kirschblüte, aber auch sie schafft es, zu begeistern.

Gerade weil sie zuerst blühen darf und ein erstes aber eindeutiges Zeichen ist, dass der Winter nun bald vorbei ist, freut man sich fast um so mehr, ihre erste Blüten zu entdecken. Endlich kommt wieder etwas Farbe ins Spiel und der graue und kalte Alltag ist auf einmal gar nicht mehr so grau und kalt, wie er gestern noch war.

Und genau deshalb freue auch ich mich über meine erste Begegnung mir den Ume-Blüten. Bald wird es Frühling und dann endlich auch ein wenig grüner und bunter. Ein wenig ist es noch hin, aber wie gesagt... ein erster, bezaubernder Anfang ist gemacht!
