Today, I want to share with you some images capturing details of a truly unique experience.
Every year, the UNESCO Regional Office in Havana hosts the "Open Doors Day" in Vedado.

It’s an event focused on exploring and sharing the architectural heritage of Vedado, allowing access to heritage homes that are usually closed to the public. Through this initiative, they aim to raise awareness about the architectural and cultural value of these spaces.

Stories of the buildings and the people who lived in them come to life in every corner, shared by students from the Art History program of the University of Havana's Faculty of Arts and Letters, who have served as guides the couple of times I’ve participated.

Some of the locations have included:

• The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China
• The Residence of the British Ambassador in Havana
• The UNESCO Regional Office Headquarters
• Línea Centro de Arte Contemporáneo – a project by visual artist Wilfredo Prieto
• The headquarters of the Cuban National Ballet

…just to name a few. Each year brings something different, though some spaces remain on the itinerary.

I’ve had the chance to learn a bit about the history of these magnificent houses in the neighborhood, and they never cease to amaze me. I’ll share more in another post — for now, take a look through these glimpses, and if you feel inspired, maybe we’ll see each other at next year’s event 😉💙📷

Una vez más acá estamos, queridos hivers 💪🏾📷 Espero tengan un día genial 🌟

Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes unas imágenes que muestran detalles de una experiencia muy singular.
Cada año la Oficina Regional de la UNESCO en La Habana, convoca a la Jornada Puertas Abiertas en el Vedado.

Es un evento enfocado en conocer y compartir el patrimonio arquitectónico del Vedado que nos permite el acceso a viviendas patrimoniales que normalmente están cerradas al público. De esta manera buscan sensibilizar a los participantes sobre los valores arquitectónicos y culturales de estos espacios.

Historias de construcciones o de las personas que habitaron fluyen en cada rincón, contadas por estudiantes de la Carrera de Historia de Arte de la Facultad de Artes y Letras de la Universidad de La Habana, quienes han servido de guía el par de ocasiones que he participado en este evento.

Algunos de estos lugares han sido: la Embajada de la República Popular China, la Residencia del Embajador Británico en La Habana, la Sede de la Oficina Regional de la UNESCO, Línea Centro de Arte Contemporáneo -proyecto del artista plástico Wilfredo Prieto- y la Sede del Ballet Nacional de Cuba, por sólo mencionar algunos. Cada año es diferente, aunque hay espacios que se mantienen.

He tenido la experiencia de conocer un poco de la historia de las casonas de este barrio y no dejan de sorprenderme. Ya en otro post les contaré, mientras tanto echen un vistazo por acá y si se embullan nos veremos en la jornada del próximo año 😉💙📷
