A curious liminal space [Eng/Esp]

Hello, dear Hive friends! 😊
I wanted to share wit y'all that I recently participated in a collective exhibition on the theme "Liminal Spaces, Non-Places." I'll leave the photo here, even if it doesn’t quite match the rest of my posts — except for the theme.

A couple of days ago, my beloved pet and faithful companion (hopefully accidentally 🙄) broke a sea urchin skeleton I had as decoration. Anything related to the ocean brings me joy, so I really loved it. Of course, I didn’t scold him — what would that solve? But looking inside the skeleton made me think back to the exhibition theme.

You see, liminal spaces represent unusually empty places that become zones of ambiguity, where something stops being what it was and transforms into something else. That’s more or less what I read while researching for the exhibition.

Now, the internal skeleton of a sea urchin is made of fused calcareous plates (I read this a while back too 😅), and if I remember correctly, this structure is called "Aristotle’s lantern". That’s about as far as my knowledge goes — I probably should have dug a little deeper 🤣

As you can see, the inside really caught my attention and reminded me a lot of cave structures. Even the fragments I’m showing you are pieces from the same skeleton. It’s incredible how nature holds such curiosities — this skeleton forms a space that, from our perspective, might seem ordinary, but when you look closer, it becomes something truly amazing.

¿Cómo andan los queridos amigos de hive? 😊
Les cuento que hace poco participé en una exposición colectiva donde el tema era "Espacios Liminales, no lugares". La foto se las dejo por acá aunque no tenga mucho que ver con el resto, más allá del tema.

Hace par de días mi querida mascota y fiel compañero, me rompió (espero, sin querer 🙄) un esqueleto de erizo de mar que tenía de adorno. Todo lo que tenga que ver con el mar lo disfruto y me encanta. Por supuesto ni lo regañé, ¿qué vamos a resolver? Pero viendo el esqueleto por dentro pensé en el tema de la exposición.

Verán, los espacios liminales representan lugares anormalmente vacíos, que se convierten en una zona de ambigüedad, donde algo deja de ser lo que era para transformarse en otra cosa. Esto lo leí más o menos investigando para la exposición.

Ahora, el esqueleto interno del erizo de mar está compuesto por placas calcáreas fusionadas (también lo leí, pero hace un tiempo atrás 😅) y si mal no recuerdo su estructura se llama "linterna de Aristóteles". Hasta ahí llega lo que sé, creo que debí haber investigado un poquillo más 🤣

Como podrán notar, este interior me llamó mucho la atención y me recordó mucho la estructura de las cuevas. Incluso estos trozos que les muestro son restos del mismo esqueleto. Es increíble cómo la naturaleza tiene sus curiosidades, este esqueleto formando un espacio que visto desde nuestra perspectiva puede parecer algo normal, pero cuando te acercas se convierte en algo increíble.

Sólo espero que a ustedes también les haya gustado y que quizás los incite a saber más sobre esto.
