This is what it takes to be a farmer producing all kinds of foodstuff. Yes it is not extremely easy because you have to go from one section of the farm to another ensuring that you have a very good link up and always a good healthy relationship with your farm.
Farmers always produce good and quality food but not all farmers are always present on the farm to see the changes that occur most of the time. I can see this categorically because even with the research I always make with visiting of different farms. This has to stop. Even when I visited some big farms which I will not mention here. The main owner of the farm was not present on the farm only the supervisors of difference unit were present. These are some of the issues and factors that bring back losses on the farm. I could remember when I did my student internship in the different sections of the farm in Nigeria. I went to a very big poultry farm in Ilesa Nigeria. The farm was built inside the owners residential property. Meaning that the owner of the farm and the wife lives right on the farm just some few walks away from the farm. Making them to constantly jump on the Farmers workers start impromptu. I love this type of method simply because it also gives the brand owner of the farm a very good idea at it peak what was going on from the farm from A to z. Whatever there is shortage of poultry feed within few hours they already know and they problem will be solved within few hours again. If we already recorded some set of chicken layer birds, that are not playing constantly everyday within few hours the owner of the farm will join us on the farm and the problem will be solved. This was also part of one thing I learnt when I was doing my industrial training back in the days. Likewise I also visited Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in ile Ife. Osun State Nigeria. On this one, they have different units with different supervisors which are always on the farm even in holidays. What I also learned was that with different types of crops that were grown, the vegetables, the tree crops, the tuber crops, and so on. They always come to the farm everyday to see what is going on. That is also reason why we need to explore as a farmer and ask a lot of questions. Most people will think you wake up one day and it happened originally. So many people already under go a lot of studies and researches traveling from one place to another seeking for advices knowledge and practical tools. So what I am saying in essence is that it is good too change environment, travel for one state to another, travel from one country to another if you have what it takes to increase the level of your wisdom in your professional aspect. Then you will be able to teach so many people either professionally or not.
- The turmeric will always give us more production if you dedicate a lot of time. I mean quality time to eat production without any form of set back at all but when you seems to postpone every activities that is needed to improve the group and development of the turmeric plants then there will be a lot of distractions with low production. I know exactly what I am talking about. That is why even when you plant and it doesn't work at first, you need to change your planting pattern. it is all about the creativity in farming not planting the old ways of cultivating crops again.
I also used the cutlass because it also helps to dig deeply into the soil without damaging the turmeric tubers. There is always more advantages attached to planting your own food yourself.
The Genesis of the crop you are planting will not be strange to you even when people out there maybe wondering how is it possible for you to plant this type of crop. And it is just due to the fact that you did your own research thoroughly and work on it.
For every Farm tools that you use it should be able to teach other people I want to slightly make a positive good use of it when you are talking about using the cutlass to harvest just like in the case of tuba crop I mean yam. If you are a pure novice farming. you cannot harvest yam tubers inside the soil at all. You will absolutely damage the yam tuber what after the other and it will not be too useful again in terms of selling it out to the community if the need arises. So everything has the right tools the right time
The more I use the cutlass to strike the soil slowly the more I see fresh turmeric to harvest. This is to show us that agriculture is life when you prepare your your mind towards achieving a particular aim and objective it will always come at the right time. We must also put a lot of efforts positive in it. Turmeric farming or planting is absolutely good so I am courage the community to slide in to gain one or two things about cultivating different crops.
