Hello Hivers 💕💘,

When you plant crops like Millet it is always good to have them on hips and ridges. This can be on purpose because of the outcome that will actually surface when the time comes. You can see the picture that the way the millet or Guinea corn was been arranged bring a lot of attractiveness to whosoever passes by. That is why agriculture is always motivating. No matter how Learned you are you must always reciprocate with good intentions of making profit out of your farm. That is why planting always involve a good perfect strategy before jumping into it. Many are times we always think of how simple it is before the nature actually opens up different channels which may distract the Farmers but from the stronger ones we stay.

Beginning corn or millet is just like the corn will usually plant because they have similar characteristics in common which if they are still in a medium stage I mean growing stage you may take one for another. Baby nature of the Guinea corn will always show its presence of the seed or production on top of the individual Plant. This is what I mean immediately you jump into a millet or getting confirm you absolutely recognize that this is how it looked like.

The way the farm is arranged makes even the weeding aspect more friendly. I will not say that it will make it more simpler because even when it is simple it involves a lot of tactics.

  • This is how to know that this is guinea corn or Millet. They are very similar in nature and that is why they plant them simultaneously. For those that are actually into planting of different crops. This work well where there is no too much drought. You must have constant water supply to enrich the soil and also make sure that it's grow uniformly.

If you are also chance you can make the planting more friendly by first of all applying fertilizer. This literally means that for the next 6 months you will not apply any fertilizer on them but it will keep the nutrients intact while the guinea corn or millet keep going up.

Greetings,
Your passion for agriculture is truly motivating. Do you find that using ridges also helps with water retention during drier periods?
Thanks for sharing your knowledge

Yes. It absolutely helps. When you include this method through making of ridges to plant your seeds. It better off more during the dry season. That is why when you go far Northern part of Nigeria, you see more of Ridges for almost all of the farms

That note about setting rows on rIDges so the weeding stays cleaner and faster really stood out to me. Good spacing saves time and labor, and it's organized in a way even my spreadsheets appreciate'. Defintely a smart way to keep costs down when fields get busy.

That is why I always encourage more of people learning more about agriculture and going into its practices.

I agree with you. Structured ridge rows and proper spacing make it less scary for beginners, and faster weeding keeps costs down :)
Clear layouts also make it easier to track inputs and yeild over time, which helps small farmers see what pays.
I liked the six months no fertilization point to protect soil nutrients, that kind of agri'culture habit compounds.
For millet and guinea corn grown together, do you find goign with fixed intervals works across most soils or tweak it based on rain?
