Deer from Kalatówki [ENG/PL]

Deer are one of the largest mammals found in the Tatra Mountains. There are two species of deer in the Polish part of the Tatra Mountains: red deer and red deer. They live at an altitude of 800 to 2000 meters above sea level. and inhabit forests and meadows. During the mating season, males emit characteristic roars that can be heard over a great distance. Deer in the Tatra Mountains are protected and their population is monitored by park services. Unfortunately, due to the large number of tourists, these animals are very tame. I met this individual in Kalatówki, about 10 meters from me.

Jelenie to jedne z największych ssaków występujących w Tatrach. W polskiej części Tatr występują dwa gatunki jeleni: jeleń szlachetny i jeleń europejski. Żyją one na wysokości od 800 do 2000 m n.p.m. i zamieszkują lasy i halizny. W okresie godowym samce wydają charakterystyczne ryki, które słychać na dużej odległości. Jelenie w Tatrach są chronione, a ich populacja jest monitorowana przez służby parkowe. Niestety z racji dużej ilości turystów zwierzęta te są bardzo oswojone. Tego osobnika spotkałem na Kalatówkach, w odległości ok. 10 metrów ode mnie.
