Una presencia rara / A rare sight
Entre las papas pardas,
de las que se cocinan con sal y agua,
se asoma una presencia rara
una boca que parece macabra.
Aquel ser se contonea
y atrae otra presencia,
que carga una galleta,
de vainilla y bien gruesa.
Among the brown potatoes,
the kind you boil in salted water,
a strange presence peeks out,
a mouth that looks macabre.
That creature sways
and draws another presence,
which carries a cookie,
thick and vanilla-flavored.
Es una papa parda,
con amarilla mirada,
lleva la galleta con calma,
es para alimentar a la presencia rara.
Con cautela se la da
y este ser la devora sin piedad,
tenía hambre de verdad
y cuando acaba, feliz está.
It’s a brown potato,
with a yellow hue,
it takes the cookie calmly,
it’s meant to feed the strange presence.
It offers it cautiously,
and this being devours it without mercy
it was truly hungry,
and when it’s done, it’s happy.
La papa se acerca a ella
y la mima con delicadeza,
le da un beso en su cara excéntrica
y se despide con pena.
Aquel ser raro,
tras comer y ser mimado,
se va a dormir por un rato,
hasta que vuelvan para de nuevo alimentarlo.
The potato approaches her
and gently cuddles her,
kisses her quirky face,
and says goodbye with a heavy heart.
That strange creature,
after eating and being cuddled,
goes to sleep for a while,
until they return to feed her again.
