Una montaña grande / The big mountain

Little Naty, little one
come help me,
I need to go without worry,
to the top of the big mountain.

And that's how Naty comes out of the closet,
which is where she sleeps in summer,
there she is cool, no strange heat,
an air-conditioned closet.

Naty se pone a mi disposición,
y yo me subo en su lomo marrón,
ella me dice que no es un avión,
que me baje y que espere la solución.

Se va y regresa con una moto amarilla,
bonita, pero muy chiquita,
me voy andando en ella,
es incomoda pero anda la pequeña.

Naty makes herself available to me,
and I get on her brown back,

She leaves and comes back with a yellow motorcycle,
pretty, but very small,
I walk away on it,
It's uncomfortable but the little one goes.

Atravieso el pastizal,
y veo la montaña que quiero alcanzar,
es tan alta, la moto no llegará,
así que con mis brazos la empiezo a jalar.

Bajo la montaña hasta mi nivel
y en ella me subo, escalo esta vez,
la gran montaña jalé
y ahora es una meseta fácil de acceder.

I cross the pasture,
and I see the mountain I want to reach,
it's so high, the bike won't make it,
so with my arms I start to pull it up.

I go down the mountain to my level
and on it I climb, I climb this time,
the big mountain I pulled
and now it's an easily accessible plateau.

Y es que bien dice un dicho:
"Si Mahoma no va a la Montaña,
la montaña va a Mahoma"

And the saying goes:
"If Mohammed does not go to the Mountain,

the mountain goes to Mohammed"
