Una máscara para la hormiga / A mask for the ant

Una hormiga andariega,
va caminando por la pradera,
busca entre las ramas secas,
una hoja que se vea bella.

Pero no encuentra nada,
la tierra hace días no recibe agua
y las pobres plantas,
se secaron y quedarón pálidas.

A wandering ant,
is walking through the meadow,
searching among the dry branches,
for a leaf that looks beautiful.

But it finds nothing,
the earth has not received water for days
and the poor plants
dried up and turned pale.

La hormiga no se rinde jamás
y se va a buscar la hoja a otro lugar,
llega a un cálido hogar
y encuentra una hoja sin igual

Es una hoja de espinaca,
para acompañar la ensalada,
a la hormiga mucho le agrada
y se la lleva cargada.

The ant never gives up
and goes to look for the leaf somewhere else,
it arrives at a warm home
and finds a leaf like no other

It is a spinach leaf,
to go with the salad,
the ant likes it very much
and carries it away loaded.

Regresa a su guarida,
con la hoja que tanto quería,
esta no era para la comida,
sino para una manualidad atrevida.

Hace una máscara,
para camuflarse entre las plantas,
así no la dañaran sin causa,
como ocurrió con algunas de sus hermanas.

He returns to his lair,
with the leaf he wanted so badly,
this one was not for food,
but for a daring craft.

He makes a mask,
to camouflage herself among the plants,
so she wouldn't be harmed without cause,
as happened to some of her sisters.

Es que los animales no tienen miedo
y por eso buscan esconderse todo el tiempo.

It is that animals are not afraid
and that's why they seek to hide all the time.
