Una hoja sin relleno / One sheet without

Una hoja llega corriendo,
porque es año nuevo,
se ha hecho tarde
para preparar los tamales.

La hoja en la mesa se para
y ve a sus hermanas,
todas están preparadas
y envuelven la comida deseada.

A leaf comes running,
because it's a new year,
it's getting late
to prepare the tamales.
The leaf at the table stops
and sees her sisters,
they are all ready
and wrapping the desired food.

Pero, la pobre hoja de plátano,
se quedó sin relleno este año,
no sabe como solucionar este altercado,
por llegar tarde sola ha quedado.

Una servilleta que observa,
esta situación le da tristeza,
se ofrece como relleno de la hoja
y asi quedará con relleno y pomposa.

But, the poor banana leaf,
ran out of filler this year,
she doesn't know how to solve this altercation,
because she was late, she was left alone.
A napkin that observes,
this situation makes her sad,
she offers herself as a filling for the leaf
and so it will be stuffed and pompous.

Y cuando alguien abra aquel tamal,
un relleno raro encontrará,
una servilleta de clara tonalidad,
no es comida y no se ve ideal.

Pero eso no tiene preocupación,
lo que importa es siempre hay solución,
la hoja tarde llegó
y un relleno distinto consiguió.

And when someone opens that tamale,
a rare filling will be found,
a light-colored napkin,
it's not food and it doesn't look ideal.
But that's of no concern,
what matters is that there is always a solution,
the late leaf arrived
and a different stuffing got.
